So true! as an outsider (not from west) it bugs me out when I come on here and see folks trashing Dre. Why in the world would he want to work with yall after all that?

Maybe cause the West Coast made his ass what he is today...he's a fuckin sellout as far as im concerned...Dre stopped making music for the West Coast long ago...Dr Dre is chasing them dollars....he make music for the suburbs and for pop radio...Dre left the West Coast years ago and ain't never looked back...he aint think about none of us real West Coast fans when he make music...

Im not really sure what the whole the "west needs to come back" is all about.  To me the west is a movement, meanin shit dont never stop.  It dont need to come back if shit never left.  If the west is gone why is everyone here.  For the most part people on here are fans of west coast music so how is it gone?  I understand that it is not where it was back in the Death Row era but that doesnt mean shit is gone.  It is here and it will always be here.  If you are saying that the west fell off because no one is putting out any of the new west, then with that logic rap as a whole is gone, it is the same in all regions so, when will rap be back?  What region, if any, of hip hop, is dropping any albums worth a shit.  For the most part each region has the few "lengends" that drop and that is it.  We have the same thing in most peoples eyes (Snoop, Cube, etc), so how are we not here.  There are alot of artist that people call new west artist and feel like the west has left because these cats arent getting major deals and droppin albums. In my opinion this helps us as fans out more then anything, being that these artist arent getting major label deals they give there music out for free.  Just in case you dont know once these cats get a major deal, all that shit is out the window.  Look at it this way, would you rather get a free mixtape / street album from a quality west coast artist, or purchase some bullshit ringtone rap from Soulja Boy.  Now I know that, that may not be the best example because the majority of the people on this board wouldnt wipe thier ass with a Souljaboy CD, I am just making the point that this is what the record labels feel they should be pushing right now. The labels right now are not interested in quality music so the fact that they arent putting us (the west) out is kinda like a compliment.

What if Dre flops? What if he doesn't go plat? You guys are acting like once Detox gets released everything will be ok. Nothing will change, he'll either sell a few million then retire and just produce, or not and still retire and just produce. It's going to take more then one guy to bring the west back. And really, the west will never be back. People aren't going to magically just start buying CD's again. Artists need to sell their shit for 5$ on-line downloads and through itunes. No label, just making money of downloads. The amount of money these artists spend trying to sell CD's is insane.

I get what you're saying, but FUCK THAT. Give me CD's (or other physical media) 'til I die. Downloading MP3's is some bullshit, you only get downgraded audio quality. I'm no hi-fi freak, but the source of the sound (and thus, it's quality) definately matters to me. Add to that the bullshit you get with iTunes, where you don't actually get to own the track you buy, you only get limited rights to play the track on certain players and other possibilities are blocked out. Fuck. All. That. Most of the crazy money that goes into CD's are the insane production costs anyway.

But on topic... I don't think Dre will come save the West Coast nor do I think it's his responsibility. It's not his fault that West Coast artists can't sell platinum.

Though, when/if Detox drops and if it sells like hotcakes, it can give the West a boost and more visibility in the market. But that is not its purpose or Dre's responsibility.

I can dig that i got a couple hard drives full of shit but i also have at least well over a 1000 CD's it has become more of a collection than anything.  I was fuckin with records too but it was to much to move when i moved spots, when i sold it shit literally filled a van with crates.

Perhaps if Dre (and all his ghosts prodcuer and writers) worked with more West Coast cats, then maybe, but This album will feature Bishop Lamont, Snoop, Eminem, 50 cent etc.

Instead of working with lets say Crooked I for a track, he gets him to ghost write for him instead (Not that Im holding my breathe for him to drop...and free d/l lmao does that count?)....Thats just helping Dres over-rated selfish ass.

Snoop gets a lot of hate, but I think he has giving more artists exposure than anyone else in the rap game. Problem lies with few main liners get shine (Snoop, Game, Ice cube, E-40....even Xzibit doesn't get the exposure he did when he was with Dre) then New West....The mid range types need to start rolling too like Wcs, Jayo Felonys, Alkaholiks etc...All them cats that have been around for ages, but are still relevant need to get there shit together too.

Need the whole Coast to be cracking.
