'Pac had a good ear for pickin' beats but saying he was the best at it is a little too far...

he has so many songs with shit beats. listen to some of his originals and you'll laugh that shit off

which is probably -in most cases- the reason they didn't come out

I'm not sure it was necessarily that they were the best beats but I think Pac could bring out the best in them. The game was so different back then. I think Pac just knew how to get what he wanted out of the songs. I don't think he was hung up on production like artists these days. I mean, maybe it's me but if you take a lot of Pac's songs and remove his words from them and just play the instrumental, a lot of  them weren't necessarily hot beats. It's not to say they were shit but I don't think he had exceptional ears for picking beats.

I was thinking the same thing.

They were unreleased, meaning not ready for an album.  He did the same lyrics over several beats many times, for instance...Still Ballin' which was released on Thug Life is one of my all time favorite pac songs, and that beat is classic...there are many other unreleased versions of the song, and none come even close to the version that was released.

Out of all the songs released when he was alive, very very few are wack beats.

just because they were not ready for an album doesn't change the fact that they sucked.

They sucked and therefore didn't make the album...further making the point that Pac was great at picking good beats

Pac had a great ear for beats, def one of the best.

Look at all the producers from the Makaveli album...how many of those producers went on and did ANYTHING else?  Pac brought the best out of producers, and could make the wackest beat seem tight because of how he ripped tracks.

And the unreleased OG's are great - I wish they were all mixed properly and released in CDQ.  They monumentally fucked up trying to rework the production on his posthumous albums.

lmao!

+ for a good amount, they stayed unreleased & were not choose to be.
Got to be tha same for many others rappers, their original might sound shitty to some.

Pac just listened to the beat via phone for just a few seconds and picked it! Pac was a genius! RIP

Peace

Like he did for 'I Get Around', which is one dope song anyway
