Right now Messi is @ the same level of maradona during his best years but he can surpass diego soon (1 or 2 years).
Cristiano Ronaldo,Kaką,Aguero,Benzema,Eto'o,Ibrahimovic.....these are some of the best players, but none of them can compete with Messi.

lol at saying Messi is on an equal level to Maradona

Maradona single handedly won a WC for Argentina in 1986, Messi hasn't single handedly done anything for Argentina or even Barcelona in a Champions league QF/Semis/Final.

Where was Messi against Liverpool in last seasons CL QF when Barcelona got knocked out?

Where was Messi when his team lost to an average German team in WC2006?

Where was Messi when Brazil thrashed them in the 2007 Copa America final 3-0?

Oh yeh i forgot Messi has a won gold medal from the olympics  ::) such a gr8 acheivement !

Let me explain this: 2006 against Germany, Messi was only substitute   :grumpy: what a stupid coach.   Barcelona's last season was so chaotic,  not even  Maradonna or Pele  could've beaten Liverpool. On of the reason Barca was so weak last year is because Messi had problems with injuries throughout the season. It's likely that  he even missed the games against L'pool. :eh:

Messi is incredible, and you can be sure he'll win enough trophies the next few years. Only injuries orhis peronality can stop him.

He was on the bench the whole. Right where his German coach wanted him. "We're up by 1 goal against Germany in Germany. Riquelme is by far our best player today. Let's take him out. We'll pull out Crespo too but instead of putting in Messi like usual and have a dangerous combo with him and Tevez late in the game". With no goal threat and no ball controller it allowed Germant to pile up on Argentina and score late in the game. Riquelme stays in and Messi comes in for Crespo and Germany is out in the quarters.

yeah because gerrard hasnt ever single-handedly won us games....and its not like he's been doing it for a decade or anything...its not like hes a better passer/tackler/leader than messi is as well as being able to chip in with twenty goals a season and multiple assists...and he has all these world class flair players surronding him every game to take some of the pressure off him...your right hes shit LOL

lol at becoming better then Maradona. What y'all niggaz get for christmas, crystal balls?

Maradona had a great burst of acceleration and speed over long distances which Messi doesnt. Speed isn't something which increases with age, in fact speed decreases with age, so Messi wont ever get on Maradona's level, let alone become better.

Maradona was explosive over short and long distances, Messi aint, Messi has gr8 close control, skill and dribbling, that what he's game is about. If you don't dive in(like Man Utd's defence didnt in last seasons CL semi final)Messi wont beat a man, all you gotta do is stand up tall and read his feet. Shit Messi couldn't even beat Wes Brown for pace.

95% of the time Messi beats his man cos they dive in recklessly, all he has to do is shift the ball to the left or right, which with his technical quality is easy to do.
