So Much Style

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was definetly anticipating this release as Kurupt and Quik are 2 of my fav. artists even if they are most definetly past their primes. Lately i have been feeling kurupt more than i did for the whole 2001-2007 era. He seems motivated by terrace martin and knows he needs to step up quality.

Now as for this project... WOW, i dont know how some of these songs were released:
Jupiters Critic (OMG this the worst thing ive ever heard)
Exodus (OMG BAD also)
Whatcha wanna do (annoying ass beat, worse: its on here twice!!)

As bad as those songs are, these songs are good:

Fuck yall (this is what everyone expected from these 2!!)
cream ya panties (probably the best on the album, damn this beat is nice!!)
hey playa (very interesting sample and quik rocked it
anniversary (kurupt really spits and the beat is great
do you know (gotta give it up for quik on the beat!!!)
oh! (pretty good beat, i think this is what everyone expected)
appeal - (classic quik and kurupt, what everyone expected)

7/13 are tight....this album is a 3/5 at best and a dissapointment to me being a westcoast fan so i KNOW most of yall wont feel it....I do think they have/had it in them to make the album most of us wanted, but quik is very experimental and i dont think many been feelin it lately. Artists gotta evolve though, i suppose.

So Much Style

OMG why the fuck is this no name muthafucka on CREAM????????? damn why couldnt kurupt have spit :'(

I originally didn't like What'cha Won Do, but since I got a CDQ or near CDQ - I am digging it. The album is good except for that robot voiced track. Lol.

Ok, here's my review also

BlaQKOut
This is just the introduction of the album and Kurupt advertises us that its impossible
to fail with him and QUik on the mic over Quik beats and they prove it is true..
The beat is just huge and both rappers deliverances are just on point.
5/5

Cream N Ya Panties
The production is just amazing, Quik brings to the table a funky ass beat that made him
the producer we adore. Perfect
5/5

Do You Know
A smooth and laid back summertime joint with a pretty good female hook.
Besides poor rhymes the alchemist between both rappers is good and match perfectly the beat.
5/5

Watcha Wan Do
Despite a good performance from the rappers and a cool hook, the minimalistic and repetitive beat becomes quickly boring.
2/5

Ooh!
An experimental but very efficient beat served by Quik murked by the duo.
4,5/5

Fuck Y’all
Another smooth and funky ass song dedicated to the haters.
The simple female hook is just tight and so Quik and Kurupt performances.
5/5

Hey Playa!
That was a challenge to make the original sample sounding good as Quik did with this song. A crazy bassline, a female hook and a good performance.
4,5/5

Exodus
Just another experimental instrumental from Quik that sounds good at first but that last too long.
2,5/5

9x’s Outta 10
A huge and dirty bass from Quik and a dynamic and hungry Kurupt. Pretty good!
4/5

Jupiter's Critic & The Mind Of Mars
Some futuristic beat performed by Robotic Quik. Special
2,75/5

The Appeal
Laid back and funky, a good way to finish that album.
4,75/5

The B Stands for Beautiful (Skit)
Annoyin as fuck
-/5

Watcha Wan Do (Alternative)
No interest
-/5

OVERALL
Besides its shortness that long-awaited collaboration between these 2 westcoast veterans turned into a good record.
4/5

  • "Gz Up, Hoes Down"
"Jupiter's Critic & The Mind Of Mars"
Quik was defo going for the Alien version of himself on that one....
(On some other world shit!)

Future shit, He is either way ahead of his time, Or high az fuck...lol

Dope album.

EFFeX

Looks like we are all on the same page with this project...

I actually really liked it, too short considering how many tracks there were and I didn't like 3... "Jupiter", "Exxodus" and "Watcha Wan Do"... I  can't believe that track was on it TWICE! WTF.

However, the songs that were good, were top notch in my opinion.

Dopeisjay

That track was made with a ring modulator, creative, instead of using talk box or autotune, he did something different, although the voice was a bit odd, ya can't knock him for trying something new and different..

No doubt, not knocking at all..
Just saying he was going for the Space sound, hence the name of the song.

Suga Foot

Speaking as someone who makes beats (more as a hobby than anything) I can't knock anything quik did on here.

He said from the jump that they were gonna make music that they like and they were just gonna have fun with it.  And it comes across that way.  It's a fun record.

I didn't want another Rhythmalism or B&O, I'm happy with this one.  Kurupt stepped it up too.

EFFeX

I feel you, I'm happy that they stepped out the box and made the record that THEY wanted to make.

Dope album.

So is it more like "Alien because it's far out from anything Quik has ever done" or "Alien like if it was made by Andre 3000 it'd be cool cause he's expected to be far out there"?
