You know boxing, and Cotto is SO much more marketable then Clottey.  A Cotto loss would have been devistating to his career.  But watching the fight, Clottey controlled the fight for the most part. Only that flash knock down hurt him on the score cards, and the two rounds after he twisted slowed him a bit, and the 12th round.  But I see Clottey winning at least 7 rounds, maybe 8. He was the aggressor the entire fight, and a lot of times judges give the nod to the guy pushing the fight in a close fight. Except this one.
I agree..
Still have to get around to watching it again, Too lazy right now..lol
But i'll post up my scorecard and compare it w/AG's.

The 6th round said it all, Cotto went all out and didn't even hurt Clottey.  Clottey just used that round to rest on the ropes, then Round 7 came along and Clottey was amazing.

Clottey is so underrated. On the real, boxing doesnt want an African to take down a popular Puerto Rican fighter.  But he's so difficult to hurt, his defense is good, he's a good body puncher and he can wear down an opponent.  He was definetely beating Margarito in their fight (loaded gloves or not), until he injured his hands. Out of his three losses, he's basically had a questionable DQ, a fight where he got hurt in but was winning the fight when the injury occurred, and now a very questionable Split Decision.  It wasnt a terrible decision, but one judge was completely off base with the 116-111 score. Had that been someone else with any sense, who knows how the decision would have went.

Clottey wasent robbed
i gave Cotto some rounds because even with his cut he still was able to out box Clottey

we just witnessed a great new cotto
kinda the same style but with a way better boxing technique
i could see how maybe Clottey won in some eyes because some of the rounds were hard to decide
i think in the 7th or 8th Clottey landed the best punch of the fight with that straight right hand and Cotto was hurt for a minute but Cotto boxed his way back into the game
it really came down to the final 3 rounds which Cotto clearly won (except the 11th) and that was really the deciding factor of the fight

a rematch would be nice but not necessary
Cotto is gonna have more and bigger paydays thanks to this fight
and Clottey is gonna be ducked even more

If Mayweather was Cotto, and Cotto was Clottey...people would be bitching saying that Cotto was pushing the fight, the aggressor, and controlled the fight and got robbed.  Clottey out boxed Cotto, he pushed the action, and he controlled the fight for 80% of the fight. Cotto had one flash KO that obviously didnt hurt Clottey. But Cottos punches had virtually no effects.  Cotto won 5 rounds at the MOST (and thats generous).  Again, no WAY boxing wants to see Clottey beat Cotto while Cotto is trying to come back.  Even Max Kellerman said how ridiculous that 116-111 score was lol That judge obviously wasnt watching the same fight everyone else was.

well in my opinion Cotto did enough to win and won atleast 7 rounds
i would of called it a draw if Clottey didnt get dropped the first round maybe

the 116-111 is idiotic but i think my scorecard is pretty accurate...
we will wait for Haters scorecard to see if he agrees

like i said it was a toss up near the end and really depended on the final last 3 rounds which cotto clearly won besides the 11th

9th round was hard to decide
saying Cotto won the 11th isnt very right cus Clottey clearly won that round

Heres my scorecard, ive watched the fight 3 times now lol

Rd

1  Cotto   10-8
2  Clottey 10-9
3  Clottey 10-9
4  Cotto   10-9
5  Clottey 10-9
6  Cotto   10-9
7  Clottey 10-9
8  Clottey 10-9
9  Clottey 10-9
10 Clottey 10-9
11 Clottey 10-9
12 Cotto   10-9

Clottey wins 115-112

To be real, I respect your guys scorecards. But watching this fight, I dont see ANY possible way Cotto wins this fight.  Three key aspects to the fight, Clottey was the superior fighter in. 1) He landed more punches (and was the more accurate puncher), 2) despite Cottos flash knock down in round 1, and him being the "power puncher" he simply could not hurt Clottey one bit. Clottey landed the more effective blows. He was regularly snapping Cottos head back with crisper, cleaner punches. 3) Controlled the pace of the fight. Clottey did exactly what he said he would. He was the aggressor, he initiated the action, and he had Cotto backing up most of the fight.

Bottom line, this wasnt the worst decision ever by any means. But I do think Clottey got robbed.  He asked for a rematch, but honestly I think he would get fucked again if he doesnt KO Cotto.  Boxing would HATE to see an African champ over a VERY popular Puerto Rican champ.

Dude your crazy
Cotto was way more active and pushed the fight and also had Clottey on the ropes on the Defensive alot

ive kept up with both boxers and their fights

watching Cotto looked like he got better Clottey looked a bit worse in this fight and thats a first for him he actually had someone as strong as him

great fight, hard to decide

what good boxing really is

Cotto pushed the fight? Even the commentators were talking about how it resembled Cotto/Margarito for the simple fact that Clottey was the one pressuring Cotto. I dont wanna say Cotto was on the run, but he was backing up most of the fight. They even kept talking about it during the fight, saying how Cotto isnt as good of a fighter backing up the way he was.  Cotto was more active as far as throwing punches, but he landed less. Check the punch stats. Cotto only really had Clottey on the ropes about 3 times, and 1 of them was in the round immediately after Clottey hurt is knee.  Most of those punches were getting blocked, or simply had zero effect on Clottey lol.  Put it like this, like i said before...if that would have Mayweather fighting how Cotto did, everyone would say he was running.  I like Cotto too. I think he's a good fighter, a good guy, all that shit. He's good for boxing...which is why there is no way Clottey was going to win a decision in that fight.

Either way, a rematch would be good. I dont know if itll happen. Im not even sure if the Cotto camp would want to fuck with Clottey again. He's a dangerous fighter, and Cotto wont get the HUGE payday off of that.  Im sure theyd love to see him take one more fight and hope to get the winner of a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight if it happens.

Paul Williams would be a decent pay day for Cotto
but yeah you would think the WBC would want a immediate rematch or something

i dont see a fight with Money or Pacman anytime soon but negotiations can happen

Top Rank is known to do that
