Finished the first season of The Wire

Absolutely incredible!!  I had previously watched a few randoms eps of season 1 and 2 out of order a while ago but I did myself a great favor by watching this season from front to back! What a incredible and brilliant show!! I cant wait to start the rest of the series asap.  I dont think season 1 was as good as season 1 of The Sopranos but I have to say that it was an amazing season!  What a series!  I am going to be starting season 2 on Monday 8)

Amazing show.I never got into until this year as well.So far I bought the first three seasons.Season three is my favorite so far I've already rewatched all three twice.

Well yeah nothing touches Sopranos but I loved the first season of the Wire

HBO just can't lose. From the Wire to Sopranos to Oz to Arliss, they've always put out really good quality television shows.

To me, The Wire is tied with The Shield as the most brilliantly written crime drama show ever. The Wire is like Menace II Society to The Shield's Boyz In The Hood. The Wire is more gritty and has a certain top-notch realness factor that cant be duplicated, whereas The Shield has that well-crafted dramatic story arc that pans so well.

But I have to agree that Season 5 is weak.

haha every time someone posts something about the wire or the sopranos, the "best TV series of all time" starts. 

for me its:

1. sopranos
2. the shield
2. the wire
4. lost

imagine if the shield or lost would of been on hbo?!   :o

The Wire is tied with Sopranos.
The Shield following right behind, but then again I haven't seen the last Shield season yet, which is supposed to be crazy.

I never really got in to the shield. The whole prime time cable packaging just felt fake to me. If it were on HBO, no doubt it would rival the wire.
