Here's how I rate The Wire seasons:

3
1
4
5
2

The Wire is tied with Sopranos.
The Shield following right behind, but then again I haven't seen the last Shield season yet, which is supposed to be crazy.

I don't know if it's bias or a lack of intelligence on your part but season 2 is arguably the best season, and at the very least just behind 1 and 4. To rate Season 5, the worst HBO season in history, better than 2 is insane. What is your reasoning for this?

Season 3 is my favorite.
I'm gonna watch the whole series again after the baseball season.  Love that show.

Judging by the grades in my recent psych. & law exams, I think we can safely rule out the second part.  :loser:

Season 2 was good, but didn't match up to the others. How anybody can rate it above season 3, would need further clarification.
Maybe it's the lack of interest for fat Polish dock workers; I guess I just find the intricate business of street drug-dealing more intriguing.
Season 5 was kinda odd, but had some brilliant parts.

So bias it is. I don't know shit about Polish dock workers or the Greek drug shipping trade but the way in which it was tackled was nothing short of brilliant. It was so well written. It also showed a new twist on the drug game that we were introduced to in season 1. Seasons 1,2 and 4 are about a tie for me. Three didn't really say anything and what it did say it went too far with. The beauty of this show was how simple, subtle, and realistic it was. Dedicating most a of a season to an entire section of a major city where drugs were legal was ridiculous, and certainly not simple, subtle, or realistic. It broke the tone of the show to say something that easily could have been said in better way.

Season 5 was a complete disgrace and a spit in the face to every fan of the show.

The theme they play during the ending credits is incredible, the best beat I have ever heard.  I just watched the first two episodes of season 2, the show definitely has a weird feel to it right now.

I just finished the first two episodes of season 2 also (but second go around through the series).
Love how McNulty sticks all those murders on Rawls.  He couldn't get under Rawls skin any more.  Season 2 is pretty good but 3 is the best in my opinion.

^^LOL yeah I love when Mcnulty tries to get back at Rawls.  I still havnt watched the next episodes but I have the next 2 discs from season 2 coming in my netflix tomorrow.  So far the show just has a different vibe to it in the beginning of season 2, I think it is the docks and also the fact that avon and stringer arent both on the street that feels a little wierd to see.

You have to remember that the main character of the show is Baltimore. Even McNulty goes away for a while the series. Season 2 shows you another side of the city and how it has been destroyed. And it does it as good as ever.

Season 3 and season 5 just take the fiction too far for me. That's why they're my least favourite. Yeah it's nice to tie up the story of the streets in a sense but it got too preachy. Season 5 was just a joke and has no business being mentioned.
