Raw Footage was dope.

i don't know how he got away with that after making "Are We There Yet?" but overall, it was dope. 8)

It's called acting you lop. You should be happy anyways he makes kiddy movies for your 13 year old ass

LOL what are you even talking about? :loco:

a "lop"? :D

^ Yeah he's been in a lot of gay movies but he's always stayed true content wise from a musical standpoint so it's whatever

my whole thing is, 50 Cent drops something like War Angel or Forever King & 1/3 of the responses are like, "c'mon, 50 needs to stop; he ain't in the hood anymore, why he gotta rap like he still there?".

whereas Cube can make kiddy movies & you know he's got some mansion in LA or somewhere nice & he can still get away with it.

i don't mind, i've never complained about it but i find it interesting a top MC of the history of rap is just "the hood nigga" & 50 Cent is "the sellout who acts like he's still from the hood".

Because with 50 it comes off more forced. He has been chasing that In The Club Pt 2 for years. That hood nigga title is not one Cube is running around chasing either. People would not respect Cube if he did 20,000 more movies like Boyz N The Hood IMO and he would just get caught up in the mix of everyone else doing the same movies.

For the most part, the difference is Cube makes the music not only his fans what to hear but what he wants to do. 50 for the most part makes songs he THINKS people want to hear.

I agree, but another major difference is that Ice Cube was one of the few gangsta rap pioneers, so he is entitled to do what the fuck he wants, he will still be a legend. 50 on other hand, is just another gangsta rapper.

yeah, i always had a problem with the "Pioneer Pass" that older rappers get lol.

D-Nice was breaking it down real well in another thread; but D was on point with the "50 forcing it" thing.

& Blasphemy is speakin' that realness; mad youngsters who aren't real into rap or really anybody not really into rap is shocked when they find out that Cube is really a top contender for GOAT.

And don't get me wrong, I like 50's music and his business savvy. It just at times comes off to cookie cutter and set up to me.

agreed; compared to this board i am probably one of the bigger 50 Cent fans lol.

i can enjoy his music, but i his forced shit can be difficult to listen to.

True. Except for a couple tracks that vibe wise for me that did not fit the album, I was happy with it.

I don't get why anybody should be concerned about what kind of movies Cube is doing. If he made "Are We There Yet" in 1992, it would be a different story, but he's older and more mature and doesn't have to uphold a gangsta image and can still come hard on the mic.

I could give a fuck if Ice Cube hopped in the purple dinosaur suit as Barney, as long as he comes correct on his music, I'm cool with it.

The simple answer is that 50 Cent has sold out thru his music and Ice Cube has never sold out. His music has always been for the streets.

His acting career is just that. Acting. I don't get why people don't understand that. Its a movie role, its not supposed to reflect anything on him as a person. The music industry is an entirely different thing than the movie industry. As an artist (especially a rap artist) you are supposed to stay true to your roots, which Ice Cube has done by consistently being hardcore. As an actor you want to expand your repertoire and play a variety of different roles, which Ice Cube has done, from the gangster roles to the more family friendly roles. If Ice Cube could only play gangster roles then he'd be a crappy actor with limited ability.

You mean what do I think the concept behind the song was?

That was a metaphor on Gangta Rap Made Me Do It. He was saying society seems to blame the problems on rap. So it was kind of a dig on that. Hood Mentality is just Cube talking about the mind state of people in the hood and if they want to better themselves, they need to change their mentality.
