why did Wideawake thank JOHN HYLAND in the booklet of The Chronic Re-lit?? Dont they realise he's the owner of forthepeopleent.com, the biggest Deathrow Bootlegging site EVER?

EFFeX

Why was he mentioned?

Because Lavi is asleep behind the wheel. She reached out to these people while they were selling SHTTBG EP and the Nina project.

Lol.. she might as well just put up everything for download on the internet and thank everyone for downloading it.

Leave the mastering to the experts and people who originally did it..

From what I heard, before he got the position there, they didn't have anybody that knew anything about the Death Row catalog working there. They didn't even know shit about the released catalog. That's probably why those Lady of Rage songs ended up on the WideAwake website that were supposed to be from the vault and they were released and they didn't even know it. I also heard that they were going to put the Chronic 2000 version of Mr. Officer on Re-lit because they thought it was the unreleased one from the Chronic sessions.

It's my understanding that he has major input on track selection, which is a great thing because he knows the catalog better than almost everybody else and he worked for the company for a pretty long time before the bankruptcy. Say what you want about the whole FTP thing, but now he's doing the same thing and doing it legally. I'm pretty sure if he had the option to do FTP completely legal he would've gone that route, but that was impossible till now.

You guys can point fingers and shout bootlegger all day but when it comes down to it, you know you like the music they have brought us that we never would've had with these artists who for whatever reason keep their 10 year old tracks to themselves.

well i don't endorse the FTP policy at all.
or do you expect me to apologise to them & send flowers?
hell, i might as well support the spammers that's filling the spam spection in my mailbox.

besides, they didn't drop much interesting songs for me, so there wouldn't be much for me to praise them anyway.

I'm not saying you gotta praise anybody. I just don't get why people make a big deal about him working for WideAwake. The bottom line is that with his knowledge and experience, he's the perfect fit for the job and that's all that should matter. I just don't think people should look at it as a negative thing that he is working for them. I think us more serious fans of Death Row will benefit from having him there so people shouldn't be making a big deal about it, that's all.
