I had to search through our extensive archives to be exactly when we last dropped a solo update on Sly Boogy. Despite appearing in updates during most months of 2009, all have been as features or mentions. It was October 31st when we last got some music from the man himself, when we dropped the exclusive free download of his then new EP The Beauty Of Death EP featuring production from TWhy, XL Middleton, The System, Tweek Beatz, and Noah Ayala and guest appearances by the PBG, a group consisting of Sly Boogy, RnB and Dirty Birdy, as well as Crooked I, Kam and vocalists Kierra, Miss King, AP and Jah Free.

Since then Sly Boogy has been quiet on the solo release tip appearing on mixtapes and on some tracks including the Dreamz single Midnight & U and the J. King cut Let It Be Known produced by J Steez.

Then today, out of the blue, we get hit with a brand new track - featuring Akon (interpolation/sample of Akon's "Up & Down" from 2008) - called "Up And Down" alongside news of a new solo project of which this is the lead street single! The new mixtape is called "Clean Up Man" a collaboration with DJ Clean from the IE.

Sly also let us know that he is set to appear in a VH1 reality show that will start filming in the first part of December. Well gentlemen....i appreciate your honest feedback & under any other similar

circumstances i would have 2 agree with you but in this case this record is strictly

for fun.

Now I don't want people to take this record the wrong way. This ain't a "hey it's me

Sly Boogy I'm back & LOOK AT ME! I have a new song with Akon! " type joint.

No..no..no...not at all.

When my boy from the label passed this joint to me he said "Hey man I'm curious to

see how YOU would sound over this Akon Joint....lace it up!"

I said okay fuck it. Laced it up...simple flow, party lyrics, sprinkled wit a little

bit a female friendly content so the bitches don't fell disrespected and

objectified....done deal.

So I played it for a few folks and the response was "Hey man we need ta blast this

out...this shit is hot!!" I shrugged my shoulders and said okay man whatever...fuck

it..may as well see if we can have some fun.

Now it's turnin into a big deal and everybody is on it askin me a million questions

about if I'm signin to Konvict and am I workin wit Akon..etc.


Hey man...listen....I just wanna go to the club...have me some drinks...smoke a lil

bit a weed....listen to this record and have a good time. Thaz it! We ain't gotta

Now as far as Akon I dig his swag as an artist and a businessman..he's came a long

way......I know some of ya'll don't like him but hey....he ain't never killed any my

kinfolf, fucked my wife, or stole any of my money so I fucks wit dude....and Akon is

the man on the hooks...hands down that's indisputable. 

I performed the record for the first time in Hollywood last week and it set the

whole club off instantly....and everybody had fun.

So when You listen to the record remember that...it's just another record to have

FUN TO....you got your drink in one hand standin by the wall....the dj plays this

record.....now the big booty bitch that you was eyeballin 5 minutes ago is grindin
