My Thoughts on "Man v Machine"
« on: November 18, 2002, 10:02:27 AM »
Well i know im late but heres goes anyway...

IMO Xzibit fans can be put into 2 categories there are those who started liking him from the moment he did "Bplease" with snoop and from there began his dre affiliation. Then there are those like me who liked him from the start and heard him on the Liks albums and from other likwit camp guest appearances.

For me i loved his flow, his energy and lyrics. He definetly wasn't the normal westcoast rapper. Listen to "SOL" + "40 Dayz" and he was not doing the typical westcoast thing like kurupt, snoop etc.

I couldn't wait for him to hook up with dre and after hearing "year 2000" i damn near shat my pants.  ;D. Unfortuantly FOR ME, i thought restless was Hot trash. The beats took over Xzibit and he changed alot of stuff i liked about him in order to adapt to the westcoast sound..

Here comes "Man v Machine" and i expected trash and got a good album. I've listened to it a few times when i got it (but honestly haven't listened to it in awhile) and apart from the Hooks (most of which are RUBBISH) this album was really good i think. "released date" and many other tracks reminded me of the old xzibit which put a smile to my face.

Looking forward to his next album BUT i hope he gets back with the Liks coz they brought out the best from him and X imo sounded better with grimy eastcoast sounding production.

Oh and i read "Symphony..." is his next track, cool great track (i hate the Hook though)...

So what do u all think of the album?

I didn't listen to this when it leaked, I just copped it and listened to it straight from the official CD and even though it was getting slated alot I can say I was happy with what I heard. It's gotten better with time too (even though it's not been that long). I think it's his 3rd best release, behind "40 Dayz.." & "At The Speed..". I personally like it better than "Restless" now.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

The album is just as good as Restless which is dope IMO...I think its getting slept on too much cause the west coast ain't getting any airplay these days, but at least it's gold...I sorta got into Xzibit after B please, but I understand how alot Xzibit fans are turned off by his new affiliation with Dre...But it's definitely got him more exposure and Xzibit fans pre-Dre should be happy that their favorite artist is eating well and will continue to do music for along time...

40 Dayz and ATSOL are stillout as Nice Price CDs from Sony music. But I would try to get the first release of 40 Dayz with the Bonus Track produced and featured by Soopafly, what is not on the nice price cd, also the nice price cd aint enhanced. Try Ebay for this.

Yeah, it's well proved that it's the beat & the chorus that sells the song and thereby the album.
The mainstream heads aint hiphop-heads so they could care less if the rappers come dope.

The album is 4 mics, nuthin more nuthin less. IMO
