Snoops worst album ever? I hope it grows on me....
« on: November 19, 2002, 08:12:53 PM »
I know we dont need another Snoop thread, but here it is anyway!  Damn, since i dissed the hell out of Jigga and Xzibit for their subpar albums, i gotta do the same for Snoop because this is just appaling!  Only Da Game... is worst among Snoop albums, Last meal is at least twice as good as this!  Seriously, i have not been more disapponted on a first listen in a long time.  I am a big Snoop fan, but ya'll will probably say i am hating or whatever.  But seriously, I have been pretty hard on Jay and Xzibit (both of whom piss me off a lot nowadays) so i gotta do it to my man Snoop, cuz i cant believe he came with an album like this!

Of course, i will give this album many listens as SNoop is my favourite rapper behind Ras and Nas.....and i am sure the album will grow on me.  However, i can't remember an album since Nastradamus that is so bad on first listen!  I mean, seven or 8 nice songs and some serious shit besides that!  The bad thing is, Snoop sounds nice for the most part, but its the beats!  And the wackass choruses!

On a side note, Beautiful is actually TIGHT, and i never like Neptunes songs for the most part....and the premo joints are up there as the best songs on the album.  Other than that, terribly disappinted, probably because the only other dope songs are ones i've already heard.

On point.
I was extremely disappointed with this, I expected it to be tighter than the advances, but the advances was near classic compared to the final version.
If somebody blamed Xzibit for having Eastcoast-beats, then I suggest that they don't listen to this CD, because it's Eastcoast overload!!

If I stretch it a lil, I might say that there is 3-4 tight tracks on this CD, and a few tolerable ones.
This will be the first Snoop-CD that I don't buy OG.
I will rather take 3-4 of the tracks of this, and mix it with 12-15 of the tracks from the advances, and put it on a CD-R.

Maybe I will buy it if it's on sale or sumthin.
And I hating neither, people on mIRC is saying the same.

* BAD_SCE changes topic to '....::: FUCK SNOOP DOGG DONT BUY HIS CD DONT LISTEN TO HIM DONT EVEN LOOK IN HIS DIRECTION'

probably because the only other dope songs are ones i've already heard.

this is the problem of course were gonna be dissipionted with this when we have heard so many good songs from the promo that didn't make it, and some of the tightest songs on the cd are ones we already have heard........................i mean think about how many though pimp slap was so tight when it fisrt hit, what about long beach to brick city ect if you heard the whole thing for the first time you'd probably feel it alot more

ps i haven't heard it but my guess is that the first listen won't be great for me, but i will be able to pop it in and bump and like the songs later on

Dont get me wrong, i will buy the cd because their are some songs i really like, and i almost always enjoy Snoop unlike others.........and King Suge, i never actually dloaded the cd, i've been listening on a website.  But i get your point buddy :)

WIth me, i have NEVER been disapponted with a SNoop album except Da Game......to me, SNoop always has enough high-end cuts that the filler doesn't really affect what i think.  But this time their is no Hennesey and Buddha, Ready to RIde, Go Away, or Lay LOW.  still some very nice songs, but i gotta hold out hope that Snoop has better music in him then this, and more importantly, a better ear for what is hot and what people wanna hear.  Cuz to me, he worked with the East because he thought that is what is hot right now, yet it may backfire on him as he coulda made a MUCH better album with just Warren, Daz and Soopafly.  I get his point about not needing Dre, but what about the others?  Its not a case of not needing, its maybe a case of thinking he is above those guys a bit right now.  In actuality, the Neptunes joints are HOT, which i cant believe cuz i hate the Neptunes and of course the Premo joints are top notch (I dont get how one of my fav. producers hitek doesnt hook SNoop up with even one dope beat though)    imagine the two neptunes joints and the premo joints mixed in with some Warren beats, some Quik, daz, LT hutton,  and a few other notable westcoast producers!  Now you have made an album where the eastcoast beats actually stand out and you still keep the westcoast flavour and make everybody happy.  Maybe the problem is Snoop just doesn't have a good ear for what sounds good...

^^ Or maybe the problem is your ear... The songs I've heard from the album (I haven't listened to the new stuff) are all good.  I heard "Batman and Robin" that B put up on wckillaz, and it's amazing, I think.  I honestly feel that his new stuff is on the level of his doggystyle stuff.  Snoop's been tight as hell since around the time Last Meal dropped.  Pretty much every verse he spits anymore is dope as hell, and he's really increased lyrically, he's much more diverse now... he's the only rapper doing funk anymore; I could go on and on on why he's my favorite rapper.  It comes down to everybody's got a different opinion... I like his new stuff as much as his old stuff, but you prefer his old stuff.  It's all good...

Peace~

The slim, trim MC promises to never leave the West Coast alone on his new project, which drops on November 26.

"My main objective right now is to make the hottest record on the market when November hits," Snoop said a few weeks ago on the set of his video for "From the Chuuch to the Palace." "The West Coast rap game is sort of invisible right now. They need me to come back home and bring it back home. I'm'a do everything to make sure everything looks good and sounds good and feels good."

TOP DOGG is a fuckin tight album even without just dippin and buck em, the 2 dj quick produced tracks (hit rocks and doin too much) are off the hook. Top dogg is the most west coast influenced snoop dogg album after doggystyle.
