Crooked I Confirms "Weapon Waist" LP
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:53:13 AM »
In the event that you have not heard, We The West and Rap Star Promo's One West Million DJ Conference Call was a complete success. The historic conference connected several artists and DJs to discuss the current state of West Coast Hip Hop. Of course, this event could not be completed without a call from Long Beach's Crooked I.

The West Coast Conference Call granted Crooked I not only the opportunity to communicate with fans, but his peers from the West Coast as well. While Crooked I discussed several issues regarding the current state of the West Coast and his recent experience in touring the country, he confirmed some interesting information that fans will be excited to hear. It has finally been confirmed that Crooked I will be re-releasing a full length Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist LP in January which features seven brand new songs. Additionally, the project will be supported by several music videos which will accompany the album's release. Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is quite possible that one video could indeed be the rumored Guess Who's Back single which features Snoop Dogg. Unfortunately, further details regarding this project were not revealed, but this is a nice surprise for fans. We have posted a snippet of this conversation which can be downloaded using the link included below.

Other interesting topics that were raised by Crooked I included upcoming music video's from The Horse Shoe G.A.N.G.'s debut album Gangsta MC as well as future project's from Jazzy Management and ConiYac. We will make certain to present additional information regarding these topics as they become available. In the mean time, please keep it locked to The B.O.S.S. Board for further Crooked I news updates.

Lame.. most of the EP already feature somewhat old tracks, they will be even more played out by the time the LP gets released.. in 2053.

This is kind of lame.  If it wasn't for the fact that it's Crooked I, I probably wouldn't support this.  Rather than seeing a re-release of this with a few new tracks, I'd be much more interested in finally getting to hear "B.O.S.S."  What's funny is if this comes out and it's not amazing from start to end, I can see a bunch of Crooked I fans saying things like "well, this still wasn't his official first album," even though it clearly says it's an LP, so I don't know what else you'd call it.
On the plus side, maybe we'll finally get to hear the track he did with Raekwon and the "Monumental" track with Slaughterhouse, that were originally supposed to be on the e.p., but were later removed.

EP was tite, if he is releasin an LP version he should keep the best tracks (if not remixs of em) plus the new songs. Make a video for Make a Phone Call and put out a long awaited album.

Isnt there a video being made for Mr Pigface?

'shoulda made a phone call' and 'one more time' were the best tracks on the ep. should keep those two, maybe the title track, and no others ideally. hopefully he is going to use the tracks recorded a while back with khalil too.

I'm still a big fan of Crook and will support whatever he does, but ever since hearing "this year I'm dropping BOSS I promise" in '07 and it's about to be 2010, I'm not expecting or anticipating anything, but when I see it I'll believe it and cop it

The video for Mr. Pig Face is completed, not sure when it's dropping though, but should be VERY soon.

I have to agree with JohnnyL, I hope the track featuring Raekwon, Edi and ConiYac drops. Of course, that's assuming he gets the sample for it cleared which caused it to be removed in the first place.

Action!

Wasn't feeling the ep.  He's got a lot more potential than cliche lame tracks like guess who's back
Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind

Interesting.  I never knew that was why it was removed.  I guess I assumed it had something to do with the Raekwon/Joe Budden situation.  I guess if Crooked I couldn't get the sample cleared, we can't really blame him for it being removed, the first go-round.  Effex, do you know why the Slaughterhouse track was removed?  Was it also a sampling issue or more of a creative choice to hold it back for a later project?

Yeah, he said he was pushing to get the sample clearance over and over again, which of course lead to the EP being delayed. It's interesting too because the people who he was clearing it through have cleared stuff for him in the past. Perhaps they have been able to work something out in the mean time.

I have no information on "Monumental" at all, I really haven't looked into it that much to be honest. If I come up with anything I'll be sure to let you know.

Yeah.  Interesting too, that he seemingly wasn't able to get the sample clearance for the Raekwon track in time to put it on the "Pig Face, Weapon Waist" E.P., but was apparently able to get the clearance to use "Woodstock, Hood Hop," when they had previously been unable to get the clearance to use it for the Slaughterhouse album.
As far the the "Monumental" track, the last thing I remember hearing was that it was supposed to replace "We Outta Here" on "Pig Face, Weapon Waist," when Joe Budden decided to use "We Outta Here" on "The Escape Route." Don't know what happened between then and when "Pig Face, Weapon Waist" was released.
