Can someone explain twitter to me?

I went there and looked up some people, like let's take Royce 5'9" for example.  So his page comes up and there's like 20 tweets on there that are like less than a sentence long like "My manager is pissing me off" or some that sound like he's responding to someone like "ohhh yeah buddy I'll get you the link" or somethin like that...

So what's the deal, are some tweets like responses to other people that won't make sense to everyone in general?  And I was on Lew Rockwell's page and it said something like "Ron Paul on Obama's nobel prize" but I couldn't click on anything, there was no link, and all his tweets were like that.

Really I don't get it.  So anything you can explain is useful

Also searching for people, most names are used by thousands of people, so it doesn't work to type in somebodies name.

The best way I can describe it is a cross between Myspace and IM. U don't see the questions others are asking or answering unless u are following them. It has it's good and bad at times.

Im with u on this one. Twitter makes no fuckin sense to me.  Theres two ways I look at it.  One, what kind of a person gives a shit about what a celebrity is doing 24 hours out of the day?  Why would you care that some celebrity had Cheerios for breakfast....or whatever? Wierd.  Then two, if youre not a celebrity...why the fuck would u set up a twitter account and think anyone would give a shit what YOURE doing 24 hours out of the day? lol.
