For recording lyrics, making beats (from hip-hop to techno/trance etc) & scratches. Also I've seen a couple of dudes with different equipment hooked up to their computers for making music in their avatars, any suggestions would be appreciated.

there are loads of audio music making software packages for Linux from writing music to producing music
check out the link below. The thing is your going to have to move over to Linux which is better than windows anyway... it is free to download and use
