By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 at 2:22 pm in Oakland Raiders.

A reader alerted colleague Cam Inman that JaMarcus Russell was at the Palms in Las Vegas.

Inman called the hotel and got confirmation from the front desk.

Coach Tom Cable said Monday Russell and Richard Seymour were excused from the final team meeting “for personal reasons.”

At least it was an excused absence.

I've tried to like this kid, but it's obvious he doesn't care. He has no work ethic and no drive. He does the minimum and expects that to be enough. I hope this guy is out of the league in a few weeks. While Richard Seymour had a legitimate excuse to miss the final team meeting to go see his family in Boston that he's been away from for so long. This fat tub of lard is partying it up in Vegas after being excused for "personal reasons."

biggest bust ever lol.

and trading picks for Seymour was retarded too.

by the time this team makes a turn-a-round & could be a contender (lets just say 5-6 years; could be more...much more lol) Seymour will be long gone.

Seymour was the kind of guy you trade for when you feel he would be real effective on a possible contender just to seal the deal.

silly move.

Wrong, the team is not far from turning it around. The main problem is the fucking fat shit of a Quarterback we were stuck with. Seymour was a great trade. Shit, with the Raiders' luck with draft picks it was probably an even better pick than getting another 1st round bust. All the pieces are there but a decent quarterback that can throw a 10 yard pass would make us way better than our record showed this season. Teams know we have to run, so they focus on that. They know all they had to do was apply a little pressure to Russell to get him shaken up. Then comes the running plays...

Don't underestimate the value of a Richard Seymour. He's a true leader on and off the field. If at the very least he molds some of the next defensive captains of the Raiders he's worth the draft picks he was traded for. Young players need vets to learn from. If those vets can do it while still their that's great, but if the team doesn't get better until after they leave don't think those vets didn't have a big part in it. Every great player once had a great vet that helped mold them. There's a strong chance they are being molded right now in Oakland.

JaMarcus is such a worthless piece of shit.  He doesn't care about football at all and it shows because he is absolutely terrible

as a GM, i would never trade draft picks (given i know what i was doing when i drafted players lol) for a past prime defensive end; especially if he had no chance at making them close to contenders.

like i said, if the Raiders were going into the season as possible contenders (like a Jets or a Packers team), i would be interested in the move.

you know, one of those guys to really give your team that look like, "yeah, we can win this shit now".
