That fumble falls entirely on the shoulders of the head coach. You have a rookie QB coming in for your injured starter. You have 3 minutes and only need to get in FG range and you're deep in your own end. Why the fuck would you spread the field an go with an empty backfield? It was embarrassing to watch that. Shiply was doing so much work getting open on his own you can afford to leave him doubled. They should have had two backs with the QB at that moment, but at least one to pick up blitzers, or to run the ball.They begged Bama to blitz and they got fucked. Horrible play call. The second I saw him in shotgun alone I asked why are they being stupid. Then he fumbles.
