Is it time for Mr Quik to retire and just stick to producing now ?
Uh, who do you think produced those three fucking albums you're bitching about? I mean, why say "stick to producing" if you're clearly not feeling the production.

i like quik, some of his other albums after rhythmalism seem to be hit and miss with everyone even did hard quik fans.
Well, the problem with a lot of fans (especially of the West Coast) is they only want the same formula and when you move away from that, they get dismissive toward it. With Dr. Dre and DJ Quik, they only want them to make records with a certain select group of artists, even if it's fucking redudant. They have no patience for change for the most part. I don't care so much who the artist works with as long as the collaboration brings out something entertaining in it. Cats are fucking track list critics. They're already deducting points from the album before they hear it if this person is on it and that person isn't. I think some artists benefit from not being put on the same pedestal. A lot of folks liked "The Fix" and if you look at it, it was Scarface rapping over Neptunes and Kanye West beats with Jay-Z, Nas, and WC as guests. Face has never been heavily dependent on having it just be strictly Houston or Rap-A-Lot or Geto Boys collabos. He fucks with whoever. Obviously if the album has a West Coast theme, the artist should try to include artists from the region but in a lot of cases, the fans are throwing expectations out based on assumptions.

Blaqout was horrible. Quik stans gassing
If anybody thinks Blaqout holds up to any of Quik's other releases, they're a damn fool.

1. Never heard "Under the Influence."  It's one I've meant to check out for a long time, just never got around to it.

2. Loved the album "Trauma."

3. Agree about "Blaqkout."  It was overall disappointing.

its not in anyones heads that Quik is dope. It's on CD right in front of us. Snatch Quik out the Hip-hop genre, and he will still be considered a very clever musician and song writer.

I mean sure his had his disappointments (The Fixxers, that track featuring Bizzare - the NFL theme, Maroon 5 Remix and a couple of other side projects) but the albums mentioned in this thread aren't any of them.
