Voted for 1990-1995.  It was not only my favorite period for westcoast rap, but one of my favorite periods for music, in general.

Have to go with 90-95. Just off of Deathrow alone. Chronic, Doggystlye, Dog Food, Murder Was The Case and Above the Rim soundtrack. All them are classics and even before Pac got there

In general, yes indeed.

Voted gfunk era... although I would have made an 85-90 period aswell, (Straight outta, Eazy Duz It, No One Can Do it Better, that 1st ATL album... Ruthless and Dre had heat in the late 80's

90-95 no doubt. West coast wasn't really popping until N.W.A., which wasn't until late 80s. And mid 90s is when gangsta rap started getting repetitive and uninspired

1985-2000 was a good 15 year run. its been down a steep hill since them. rap period.

i agree, except I push it up to 03, when Kokane released Dont Bite The Phunk. Dirty South used NBA mixtapes to exploit that new sound which is what we hear everywhere today
