true BPG the only problem is that no one was tired or getting tired of snoops style, you never heard anyone say after any of snoops earlier albums that he should be this and not gangster. warren's on the other hand is wearing kind of thin. have to admit though, Warren G, WC, DJ Quik, Jayo Felony and shade sheist all represented the west pretty good this year.

also Gfunka...is that an actual release coming out in your avatar? i've been waiting to hear more from Squeak Ru since....shit, i'd say ice cube's cd

I wasn't feelin Return Of Tha Regulator too much neither. It was coo' though.. just kinda boring sometimes. I thought tha WC and Dj Quik albums were way better. As a matter of fact.. one of my favorite songs on ROTR was the song WC was on.

Not to take anything away from Warren though.. I alwayz liked his shit.. he's just not alwayz consistant. "This DJ" is a classic.. one of my all time favorite West Coast tracks. And I alwayz bump "Take A Look Over Your Shoulder"... but that last cd.. I feel he lost his touch or is just out if his time.

The best westcoast LP to come out in the last year is Dilated Peoples - Expansion Team

I think ROTR is his best since g funk era...

Same here man, and I totally agree with your first post. Warren has had so much shit thrown at him that he deserves so much more props for the material he's released over the years, he's a quality producer, sure his lyrics aren't mind blowing but he has a great flow/delivery that fills the gaps there. G-funk is kept alive by Warren, and I thank him for that.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Word.  Warren G still has the best West Coast album to come out in the last year.  Even tough "Return of the Regulator" is his worst album it's still a solid record with high replay value.

I really liked this album when I first got it, but then I didn't really listen to it for a while cause it was too cold for Warren's summertime style of music. I played this album loads in the summer, and I actually do think that it is a really dope album, I'd say probably about the same level as I Want It All, above TALOMS but definately not up to Regulate:G Funk Era status. The only real downpoint of the album was the Dre produced joint, which was average at best and was a terrible choice of single.

I love Warren's G Funk style, he has always been a dope producer, and I'm really looking forward to his work on the 213 album, and hopefully another solo project. He really should have done more production for other artists over the years like he did for the Twinz, cause sometimes I feel as if there isn't enough Warren produced material out there.

Jeez, is it possible to say that "Crip Hop" had better beats than ROTR?
That's like cursing in church.
Now I admit the lyrics wasn't top notch, but neither was Crip hop..
But Butch Cassidy, Mista Grimm made it a enjoyable album.
i loved the beats on Crip Hop...they were straight raw...just bumped nicely...those were some real gangster beats...the whole g funk thing is pretty played out...to me that shit died back when eazy died...

I just dont understand how it is possible to be a fan of the Westcoast gangsta-sound, and prefer Paid the Cost or Ghetto Heisman to ROTR..

I think we see that there are two different styles out there... a lot of folks here love that gangsta raw sound... which is cool, but then people like me prefer that laid back gfunk shit... and then there are people who sit in the middle... this is a westcoast forum...we bring everyone together

I also think ROTR was dope as fuck... There hasn't really been a better West Coast album after that, IMO. Ghetto Heisman is close, damn close, it's the album of the year for me. But Warren's shit was top notch... It's a shame cats ain't recognizing him. Just like Quik.

That comment on how Warren's sound is gettin' old and shit... What the FUCK? That's what niggaz need to do - go back to their roots. Look what happened to Snoop when he tried to reach new audiences with the new sound on Paid tha Cost - a good album, good hip-hop, but it sure ain't that shit that made the world go crazy over Snoop Doggy Dogg back in the day. It just doesn't sound West Coast...

Since the 213 album actually seems to happen some time, I really hope that Warren (and whoever gets behind the boards, if anybody else does) keeps it West Coast and keeps it to his own sound. On ROTR Warren did what he does best - and IMO it came out golden.

You kinda got a point dogg lol. The album was great but not amazing so that doesn't say much for the West right now.
