Introducing "Veteran Assassins" - Single, Album & Tour - By : Rud - September 8, 2010

One thing that stays constant and exciting about being part of Dubcnn is breaking new talent to our readership.

Now to some the names ethemadassassin and Veteran Eye may be familiar as solo artists but few will have heard them under their collaborative name VeteranAssassins. This combination seeks to restore fans’ faith in music by proving that in only six days, two emcees can resurrect the foundation of Hip-Hop legend.

ethemadassassin and Veteran Eye were known individually in the Greensboro, NC music scene before forging their working relationship after being formally introduced at a recording session for another artist. They quickly realised that their personal views and musical tastes aligned and despite Veteran Eye moving out to LA shortly after the duo set about planning to release an album undert the Veteran Assassins name.

The project, which is released in conjunction with French production team The FakeHunters who have produced the entire LP, was recorded to ensure that their trademark aversion to the ‘half-assed’ was upheld. The Veteran Assassins realised recording the album a coast apart via email was not going to deliver the outcome they wanted so ethemadassassin bought a plane ticket to LA, and issued the challenge – write and record the entire “VeteranAssassins” album in the six days before he had to fly back to NC. - daunting? Not at all! The album was completed by 4am on the final evening; "Nothing worth enjoying should come easy...or something like that [laughs] ...the reward is that we have a dope and original project. Good things come out of hard work," explains the duo.

The first single from the album, which is available on iTunes now, is the track "All Boro" which is inspired by the grind of both artists’ home base in Greensboro, NC, and not only reps the Veteran Assassins’ status in their own borough, but highlights how the reputations they’ve earned there (from the street to the stage) have spread to boroughs world-wide.

Veteran Assassins - All Boro

The Veteran Assassins album sees the duo showcase their individual abilities and their collective mindstates over The FakeHunters eclectic musical mix that bring what can only be described as a "renewed" perspective to a very "throwback" sound.

Once again the album Veteran Assassins is out now and the duo are touring right now, check out the full tour guide on their official website but tonight they play Little Temple in LA, The Vibe in Riverside, CA on Sunday and Space 120 in Palm Springs, CA on Wednesday before hitting Las Vegas, Santa Maria, CA and Seattle over the coming weeks.
