Too bad we're not having as much fun listening to his records as he is in making them.

okay, I understand it.

But not just that year IMO 2010 is a political year too.

Well to be honest, a artist should not need a election year to have motivation to be political. The Predator was very socially and politically charged on its own. That was the genius of Cube, Death Certificate was almost prophesy to the riots before Predator even came out. He knew the pulse of his evironment and still does, just a shame he does not revisit it more often.
well, Paris is working on a new album

Acid Reflex is the only album I have not heard.  Was it good?  I am looking for Guerrilla Funk Paris or Sonic Jihad at least.

That is a perfect example. Paris does not "wait" on moments or dates to do political records. Especially in 2010, there are plenty opportunies and topics out there to tackle and it seems like less and less artists want to do it. Oh well.
yeah there's enough to talk about.

this is exactly why Dre won't pick up the phone on these rappers no more. All that rappers wanna do is have fun.
Dre understand that you got to WORK to make some hot ass tracks. Rappers need to learn that.

Now I don't blame cube of shit, because he has earned his way to have a little fun.
But all I wanna say, is that the BET 2010 Cypher of Ice Cube was his hottest shit in 3 years. THAT was fun.

Someone kidnap Cube, start treating him like it was slavery all over again & then let him record music.

Can Ice Cube recover from this fiasco of an album?

He wrote this album like it was one of his recent clumsy comedy movies.

As for the beats, talk about cheap.

Making embarassing movies and now embarrassing albums, his audience in humilation has left him in droves.

Next we hear from him in music will proabaly be rapping those recent terrible hooks of his on WC's Barricuda album.

The thing is, him, his ego and his yes-men dont understand how wack his skills on the mic-tip and ear for beats has become.

His rapping sons? He may as well let his wife, uncles and aunties all get on the mic.

He promised a return to incredible classic west coast hip-hop shit for our speakers with this record, but gave us a frisbee instead.

Maybe he's just not up to it no more but damn that jherri curled Cube used to be the best.

Cube's new albums are better then almost any westcoast rapper who was making music in the 90's. Kurupt, Daz, Warren G, SNOOP, etc etc etc. are putting out shit in comparison.

this is exactly why crap music is tolerated. If a rapper releases a wack album which is not as wack as the rest of the wack shit out, he's considered to have released a classic.

I wouldn't say it's a "disgrace" per se...the main problem w/ I Am The West is that the sub-par tracks are so below average (for Cube) that they take away from the overall enjoyment of the CD. If you listen to them individually, Life in California, Too West Coast, I Rep That West, Drink the Kool-Aide, No Country For Young Men, Hood Robbin' and Your Money or Your Life are all great cuts, IMHO. Soul on Ice and Y'All Know How I Am are both just OK, but if Cube had to have a couple of "short verse" songs on the CD, they're cool in that regard, so I don't skip them. Fat Cat would have been better if it had more verses and less chorus-chanting--Cube's fast flow on the second verse is actually pretty cool, to me anyway, and if he'd written one more verse flowing real fast like that (or made the second verse longer), the song would be more effective, even with the southern-ish beat and all. Nothin' Like LA is a little skimpy lyrically on the first verse, but the other two verses work, and the G-Funk-ish, Warren G-like vibe makes it a decent cut.
She Couldn't Make It On Her Own, Urbanian, , It Is What It Is and All Day, Everyday are the sore points for me. They're just so below-average lyrically and production-wise that if I don't skip them, I basically can't enjoy the rest of the CD. These are the songs I would have left off if I were Cube--I would have substituted Pros Vs. Joes (a fun, catchy song, IMHO), Man Vs. Machine and maybe put one or two more West Coast-ish sounding tracks in their place. Just my opinon, though, and everyone's entitled to theirs' as well.
