No, it just appears that way.ICP fans are cult-like insane.Joe Budden fans just defend Joe & while he's like the Yankees of Hip Hop (love him or hate him with a passion), those who hate on him give him absolutely no break so the fans defending him seem so much more dedicated than they actually are.If people weren't so ABSURDLY biased towards him, some Joe Budden fans would seem like the casual fan. But he drops a great song, that by another artists would get props, but Joe gets "Damn, this, this & that sucks; song sucks, wow, terrible" & then the defense seems so much more intense to make up for the complete insanity of the haters critiques.A fairly simple concept.

If a rapper had an unlistenable voice, but was a great lyricist, I wouldn't have a problem admitted he was good. But then again, I'm not a complete moron either.

I'll actualy admit to liking some ICP musiccarnival of carnage and ringmaster had some dope cuts on them, dark lotus's very first release with Marz is a classic too.but i certainly don't like them enough to be "juggalo status" lol

Possible reasons: -He has stayed connected with them on the net-he has a down to earth personality-he has a bit of talent and has been consistent with this style and material using that talent (Altho i see a bit of backlash from the fans in the MM4 thread)So a mixture of being a good artist and having smart marketing sense.Which also brings us to why artists lose fans... Let's look at CAM'RON, who I have stopped checking for aside from Dipset stuff:-he doesn't keep a really strong online presence, I can't remember the last time I read/watched a full interview he did. He doesn't use any social networking sites? -his artistry has slid a bit imo, and altho he's been releasing material with Vado, I never hear any replayable verses from him.-his music is somewhat disposable (subject content)Lots of reasons to be "disloyal", which is why you don't see an as strong Cam'ron fan presence as before (even if it was influenced by a Dipset brand come-up)There are a few easy ways to gain and keep your fanbase, unfortunately alot of rappers don't see that (budget, label influence), or don't care.
people who still have this backpacker influenced idea that unless its about something 'deep' its disposable. and thats bullshit.

"disposable" because of its lyrical content. i really dont think there is any difference, both rappers are true to themselves, budden is supposed to be a deep thinker/depressed dude so he raps like one, cam is all about "we gettin that money nigga, slap a bitch" so he raps like that. one is not more disposable that the other, where do budden fans get this idea from? and cam has released more music than joe this year, hes reformed dipset, been pushin his new artist vado, how is that now having presence? imo he had a lot of great songs/verses this past year and his last album was underrated. you have made some great points on the budden side, but i think cam was a bad example of an artist who has lost fans just because you feel that way personally.
Quote from: SCREWFACE on October 26, 2010, 12:23:38 AMpeople who still have this backpacker influenced idea that unless its about something 'deep' its disposable. and thats bullshit. 100% agree. People with that mindset forget that hip-hop didn't even start out as "deep" music.
i just think your whole point about him not keeping "a strong online presence" is dumb since hes been releasing mixtapes. what you think of his verses are your own personal opinion. cam doesnt have time to make a million vlogs cause hes out there actually makin music and havin fun and bein part of the rap community. although you could say budden has a stronger online presence, he certainly has a very small one in the rap community as a whole and is very insular. he relies completely on his fans.
I will always prefer Grandmaster - The Message over Biz Markie - Just a Friend. You should be able to spot the difference in subject content....
You expect me to download an album that isn't real? Sorry, but I can't sign this.
