Two hot chicano-rap releases
« on: December 23, 2002, 02:20:27 AM »
1. Down 4 My Shit Compilation Part 2

For those who have already heard Part 1 or the Youngster and Mr. Chino solos or the "L.A County Surenos" compilation know that this is some dope shit. I haven't heard it, but I'm pretty that this compilation shouldn't be missing in you chicano-rap collection.

Youngster presents... Firme Oldies

There has already been samples of this release on various Down 4 My Shit Records releases. This is for everbody who likes that laid back chicano sound with all these dope oldie samples.

Make sure to pick these albums up, when you are able to. They will be very rare, because they are straight underground.

I don't know, where they are exactly from. All I know is, just like you, that they are outta the L.A area.

^^^^

I agree with some of that but then again it's like.. that shit's out here... I got homies who bang and I'm sure we all do livin in Souther Cali... and that's just what they do, what their into... so it's their music.

I dont see Chicano Rap any different from black fools making gangster shit. It's all tha same subject matter in tha music... Bitches, Guns, Gangs, Drugs... Gangsta shit... some of them might not be too lyrical but probably really gangsters. And some of them fools actually do got some alright lyrics.

Oldie samples... that shit probably gets on your nerves too huh? But then again it's a part of our Chicano culture... whether you listen to Oldies or not... it is a part of our culture cuz a grip of Chicano's listen to it.

Peope Under The Stairs is a Underground Group out here from L.A... A Black guy named KK and a guy who I think is mexican ... he has a line on one of his songs that kinda speaks on this.. here's some of tha lyrics...

"And it's a shame, how lame, weak sucka emcees play that game, of let me slide like him, Loco, you can't win, With those wack ass loops, yall stole off of tribe vibes, and addmitted tha P arrives of Robby n Sly, Bringing Back Breaks, and sending B-Boys to Kaiser, Permenente for me Gente I'ma break ya synthasizer, and your drum pad (??), Your makin Brown People look bad, And tha oceans aint feelin it, ask my dad, So If I gotta sound like Yall to represent my coast, I'ma diss on L.A and take my shit on tha road"

"These Bustas! Betta Recognize What's Commin'/ Dancin' On D's With Tha Alpine Bumpin'/ Ever Since A Child I Knew How To Live Foul/ Now I Bust Rhymes Like A Cool CRIMINAL" - King Tee

Chicano rap is hot. And of course, when you don't like the oldie samples, you don't like that shit. But not every song is based on oldies. You should give it  a closer listen. Chicano rap is deserved atention.

Fo sho, you need to have mad love for them oldies, chicano rap is on a higher level when it comes to production.

I don't agree 100%. They are very creative but they are also using a lot of beats that were done by others, more famous west coast artists. But when they do their own beats they are funky and very creative. And the spanish accent is dope...
