Lil Half Dead & 213
« on: December 27, 2010, 05:35:08 AM »
I've always been wondering how close was Lil Half Dead with the other 213 members, Snoop, Nate & Warren.

I mean i read that he was part of the original 213 group but it seems like he disapeared when they started recording songs, the Chronic sessions, Indo Smoke etc... And we don't hear of him on the few early 213 tapes that leaked.

So what's up? Anyone can tell me more?

And if i'm correct he's the one mentionned in Nate's song friends, when Warren spit:

"That's my nigga Snoop D Woop and my nigga N-A-T-E
I can't forget about my nigga H to the Deezy"

HD, understand Half Dead.
"There's one more thing I'd really like for you to do, never leave me alone..."

He has known them since kids, like The Twinz too. They are friends but HD had some beef with Swoop G in '94 and that's when he got X'd from Tha Dogg Pound. "Who Got Some Gangsta Shit" is a Half Dead diss. HD is one of the original Dogg Pound members, but he has never been featured on their music that much. I think Half Dead once said somethin like that Snoop doesn't feature you on his albums just cause you are his friend. You need to have some hot shit to spit and if Snoop likes it, he will put you on.

There are many websites on the web that claim that Nate and Half Dead are cousins with Snoop, Daz and RBX. This is not true. Nate Dogg is Butch Cassidy's cousin, period. Snoop is RBX's, Daz's, PFN's, Crystal's, Brandy's and Ray J's cousin.

As for Half Dead, he was one of Snoop's closest homie, then HD had his issues with the whole crew (hence the diss on Who Got Some Gangsta Shit) but came back in full effect in the late 90's as you can see him in movies such as Tha Eastsidaz. However, he's now only doing hooks and production work as far as I know. The last time I heard him rap was on Snoop's Welcome To Tha Chuuch Vol. 1 (2003) and let's face it, it was not that great. He's much better off doing soulful hooks like on "The Street" (by E-White) or Put Your Handz Up (Young Lyfe feat. Daz). To be truthful even though I consider his two solo albums as timeless classics it's mostly due to the incredible production effort by Total Track Productions. I mean he was kind of entertaining on certain songs (Had 2 Be A Hustler, Hood Lyfe, Still On A Mission, etc.) but he never was a very good rapper, he was barely average to me. He was struggling to write three verses for a song and all in all most of his shit sounded alike. That's what makes these records peculiar in a good way though, but no wonder he could not come up with renewed material after two albums. He kind of reminds me of The Twinz, they were relevant in the 90's but they failed to maintain their creativity afloat. Except that the Twinz were really good mc's.

It's funny that you mention this line mista rosa 'cause i've always wondered about that too. I think he was featured on Long Beach Is A Motha too, and the original version of Still On A Mission features Snoop (you can clearly picture Snoop saying lines like "before I was a OG i was a BG"). Plus his deceased brother X-Con did a song with Nate Dogg back in the day called "Dayz of Bedrock", if anybody got that track by the way, please let me know, i used to own it but lost it like 5 years ago and I've been looking for it ever since.

Very true. I think he got that from Dre. Cause we know for a fact that Half Dead was clownin' with the whole Death Row family in the beginning as he was featured on The Chronic tour and you can hear him speak on the Let Me Ride Extended remix but yet no proper rap song was released featuring Half Dead and Snoop. Matter of fact the only major rappers Half Dead ever got down with as far as rap is concerned were Tha Chill who is basically his childhood homeboy and AMG.

X-Con was Lil 1/2 Dead's brother? If he had a track with Nate was he closer to the DPG than Half Dead?

he was also mentioned on Lil Ghetto Boy
"Wake up, jumped out my bed
I'm in a 2 man cell wit my homie Lil Half Dead"

also on "fuck you"

So I gave her some Hennesey, she gave me some head
I fucked her on the flo', so I wouldn't mess up my bed
Then Lil' 1/2 Dead put his dick on her head
Take that bitch home, and give her a bone
And give her the number to my cellular phone

its strange that some like lil half dead who was down from the start dont collaborate with them..
