NFL Playoffs: Wildcard Round.
« on: January 02, 2011, 08:55:24 PM »
Saints at Seahawks
Jets at Colts
Ravens at Chiefs
Packers at Eagles.

Funny, all the away teams are favorites in my book.

I'm not going to lie though, the Jets/Colts game is a coin flip; we could easily lose that game. The rest I take the Saints (-7), Ravens (-4) & the Packers (+3) (they have to be the underdog, even though I like them).

My spreads are fictional, but I'd assume they are in the right range.

Superbowl prediction: Packers/Pats.

gimmie the Eagles, Jets, Saints and Ravens

it's so hard to pick against the greatest QB ever (Peyton Manning) but I think the Jets will be motivated enough to win on the road.....call it wishful thinking ha.

That's what I'm saying. The obvious move would be to say the Jets will win no doubt. But I can't really count today against the Bills & other than that the defense has been a little suspect to me.

Peyton could tear us up & an average defense can hold us to under two scores.

Scary.

Why is everyone thinking the pack wil beat philly??????

-Packers already beat them in Philly this year
-Packers have a far better defense
-Vick might be neutralized by the cold weather
-Without the concussion Rodgers suffered against Detroit, its safe to say the Packers would be 11-5....or even 12-4 since they almost beat New England without him
-If Philly didnt happen to win their division, Green Bay would technically be ranked ahead of them (same record but Packers have tie-breaker)

Should be a good game. And Philly can win for sure. But I do think the Packers are dangerous. I wouldnt be surprised to see them make it to the Superbowl. They almost beat the Falcons in Atlanta. Almost beat the Patriots in New England (without Rodgers). Crushed the Giants. Shut out the Jets in NY.

If the Chiefs had won yesterday I would have predicted the Cheifs D and crowd noise to destroy Flacco. Now I still think it's possible but I'm not assuming anything. I didn't watch the game so I don't know exactly what happened to the pass attack of the Cheifs, because ven before the two picks which pretty much seemed like desperation throws trying to make a comeback, the numbers look horrible. Maybe hearing Wies was leaving let down the boys, maybe Oakland played hard with nothing to lose and got some breaks. Not sure. I fully expect McDaniels in KC next year, unless him and the HC still have beef.

I could tell in Wies's interview that he didn't like taking orders from a guy he used to give orders to, and I also think the orders he was given didn't sit well with him either. It's one thing to be told to go against your guy from the big Tuna or Bellicheck, but from Todd Haley? And if that's the case I could see that being a problem with McDaniels too. But we'll see.

As for my picks tro beat the spreads whatever they are; Seahawks, Colts, Packers, and Cheifs. But to outright win the games I say Saints, Colts, Packers, and Ravens.

Seahawks will destroy the Saints, they are clearly the inferior team  ;)

it IS a long flight to Seattle from NO and the weather will probably be cold (40s) and potentially rainy

but still NO should win big

The Ravens will handle the Chiefs. What happened to the passing attack on Sunday was that our D-line completely dominated their O-line. We have a good front four...but Seymour wasnt even playing. The Chiefs still had seeding to play for, so they were playing to win. But we really shut them down. Even shut down the run. Charles had one big run. But other than that, they couldnt get anything going against us.  Remember, we didnt even have McFadden playing either. Bush still ran all over them...I can only imagine what McFadden would have done.

Bottom line....I dont see anyway the Ravens lose this game.

after listening to my sports talk guy i feel a bit more confident about the eagles, they are a team that usually prepares well esp after 2 weeks, 2 losses in a row (1 is bullshit) but at least a lot of the players will be healthier and well rested. plus we pretty resiliant. i mean, rodgers will destroy that secondary, but if its a shootout, which is highly likely, i like the eagles chances in putting points on the board.

You also can't forget about the 12th man, but yeah, I'm not feeling too confident about this one lol

IMO this will be the most entertaining game of this weekend for sure. Im a Raider fan, but I would like ONE of these two teams to make the Superbowl for the NFC. So whoever wins, Im pulling for them the rest of the way. I just think that Green Bay defense is really going to get after Vick.
