Cable seems like a good coach. Raiders had a huge turnaround. Nobody really expected them to have a decent year. This makes no sense  ???

cable isn't under contract

the two coordinators are

hugh jackson (offensive coord) is getting inquiries about HC from other teams I guess and Davis said "fuck it I'll promote Jackson since he's under contract already and I want him to stay"

very risky...Cable isn't an X and O's guy though he's a cheerleader guy and a physical, technique/skill coach

The Raiders show the first sign of life in years and leave it to Al Davis to go with a coaching change. What a twit. He threw away a ring by dropping Gruden so I guess Cable is an easy choice. Just don't win baby!

Cable probably won't head coach this year, but he should definitely at least get a co-ordinator job

From a stability standpoint and a raiders fan I am sick of all the changes. From just looking back at the season yeah we had a great shot at going on the playoffs but we did not close out 2-4 close games and even with 3-5 games left in the season, Cable still seemed reluctant to go with Campbell. Just too much uncertainty and 2nd guessing, yup sounds like Oakland to me.

I wouldnt blame him about being unsure of Campbell though.

Bad decision by Al, IMO.
Money like Draymond Green.....yuuup

With Weis gone in KC I'd jump all over McDaniels to keep him from going there and get John Fox to head coach and run the defense. And they'll win the division next year. But with Al Davis....

This was done to promote Hue Jackson, who looks to be gone unless his promoted. Jackson make it known from the moment he got there, his looking for a HC position, and if he has to prove himself by turning the Raiders offence around, he'll do it. Jackson's sources say his as good as hired. Cable was very much a players coach, the players loved him and followed him. Jackson was an X's and O's guy, and had the game plan. Together they did an amazing job turning the Raiders around and they produced the 6th best offence in the NFL. Let me repeat, with Bruce Campbell as your QB, the Raiders had the 6th best offence in the NFL. So logic says keep things the same, but Jackson wants to HC. So you have to pick one, and Al is going with Jackson. Do I like it, not sure, but I will roll with it and see if this prevents the players from revolt.

Most experts were expecting them to be around 8-8. I dont think a LOT of people were expecting them to be involved in any playoff discussions in December really....but thats because no one was expecting the Chargers to suck so bad.

As for the move...Im not even sure what to think about it so far. The problem is, he was popular amongst the players. Shane Lechler in an interview mentioned that it could affect key free agents this year like Gallery and Bush. He said both guys might not come back with Cable leaving. I hate the instability. But I also DO like Hue Jackson. Im sure he will get a head coaching position whether its with us or not. The Niners already asked for permission to speak with him...which just happened to coincide with Cable's contract not being extended. So if we manage to keep Hue Jackson as our headcoach, I wont mind the move so much. If we dont land him...its a huge mistake.

Don't be surprised if they promote him from second string Right Guard to Quarterback for next season.
