where do you rank LT all time amongst RBs?

<< < (5/6) > >>

Russell Bell:
We could play the guessing game and woulda coulda shoulda with Barry (we could argue who is more "skilled" all day and it wouldnt make a real difference) and any other RB and about the Cowboys and their superior O Line, but, the fact is in the most important statistical category for RBs, Emmitt is the best.  We should give praise and thanks.

In this day in age of overanalysis of every and any stat 29 hours a day on ESPN, I would think Emmitt's superiority in the stat categories would hold more water with folks.  ;D

-most yards in a season (1800 something)

-second most TDs in a year (22 in a 12 game year...randy moss has 23 in a 16 game year)

-most yards all time

-most TD all time

etc

There is no doubt he was great. But there have been a lot of great receivers that just happened to play with shit QB's or in systems that werent as receiver friendly as the Niners was.

rice had 1000 yard seasons with 4 diff QBs    granted his best years were with montana

Cmon Hack, your a knowledgable sports fan. Where the hell is Jim Brown!?!

Walter Peyton, Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers are the only rb's that have ever been on the same level of Jim
Brown. Brown is definitely the goat rb, I don't really see how it can be debated.

I give him credit for the NUMBERS he put up. But looking at him purely as a running back, he was very unimpressive. He played in a system where all he had to do is hit he huge hole that was created by the o-line. He wasnt very elusive, not very quick...just strait ahead. He wasnt bad obviously. But clearly if you took him out of that offense and let him run for the lions all those years.....he would have been an average to below average back statistically. Where Barry would still excel for the Cowboys. Thats relevant cus the only arguing point there is for Emmitt is his stats.
