Skylar Grey Talks Studio Sessions With Dr. Dre

While Jim Jones revealed on a previous episode of RapFix Live that working with Dr. Dre was “humbling,” singer and songwriter Skylar Grey shared with Sway a different portrayal of the good doctor on this week’s RapFix Live.

Sway asked the Wisconsin songstress her feelings and impression of working with Dre and Eminem, both arguably the best at what they do respectively. A suddenly animated Skylar eyes lit up as she recanted her first meeting with the pair of superstars. “I was just excited. I was in Detroit and I had this track to present to them really hoping they would like it,” shared Grey. “I met Dr. Dre for the first time and he was instantly…his energy felt like he really is this father figure to the hip hop world.”

While Dre left quite an impression on the red hot singer, the legendary producer gave Skylar a cosign that puts an official stamp of all her accolades of late. “The first thing he says to me is ‘you’re a superstar, it’s in your aura’ which was crazy because you know his track record of finding talent is pretty like wow," said a humbled Skylar.

Skylar praised Dr. Dre in the interview, saying that Dre was “one of the best guys she’s met in the industry.”

Sway ended the interview with the somewhat shy singer noting that the 25-year old buzzing vocalist has come a long way from her humble beginnings of singing with her mother in the folk band Generations.

Article contradicting itself.

''Jim Jones was humbled where Skylar had a different view on the encounter''

and then they write this:

''said a humbled Skylar''. lmao.

I'd rather listen to some one who creates their art and not have the best voice than someone who can hits all the notes better but has a ghostwriter.

Which is probably the same thing Dr.Dre said to Hittman, Knoc-turn Al, Brooklyn, Gage, Truth Hurts+++. Look where they are now ::)

Rihanna yes, but there's plenty of better R&B singers.
