eminem lost neutral hip hop fans with eminem show
« on: January 04, 2003, 02:16:18 PM »
dont get me rong , i aint hatin cuz i liked the album, lyrically his best album, but i think overall his best album was the MMLP..........even the first single was dope, real slim shady vs without me........wack track

anyways it had alot mo bangers n was better suited to strictly hip hop fans while eminem show had alot of rock influence, which i dint feel, i prefer hip hop beats, they were a mix of hop hop n rock

anyways, no its not im not a fan no more, i still buy all his shit n his one of the best in the game so on but alot my homies, who are like jus nuetral fans of hip hop dont feel eminem no more afta he dropped this album, they all say its not proper hip hop, its 2 rocky, beats are wack so n so............they all know his lyrics are still dope but like it aint on MMLP level overall

anyways theres sum amazing tracks on both albums but i feel the replay value of MMLP was better and he needs to get back in a studio with dre alot mo fo his next albu, cuz he still new to the production trade, experience wise............but he'll get better with time, plus producin for others will help

but its true that as much as eminem has made new fans with this album, his also lost alot, cuz of the different sound he brought with this album

this album is a slight above 4/5 album

while MMLP .....was his greatest album and slim shady was a great debut on aftermath

imo

peace

I dont think he lost any hip hop fans. Okay perhaps Without Me and Closet were aimed at big sales, but the album as a whole is a great hip hop album. Its not rock, its not pop, its hip hop. And I think his production has moved on immensely, although his sound obvioulsy isnt as polished as Dre's you can hear real emotion in his tracks, which a lot of producers can't manage

And personally I think the replay value is much higher on eminem show because he's talking about real issues on the album like war, the state of hip hop and society in general, things that arent gonna go away. MMLP was a great album but some of those tracks are kinda tired now when hes talking about N Sync and that shit, it was dope at the time but it played out quickly.

Nah, MMLP got weak towards the end.  "Amityville" and that D-12 song were weak.  "Drug Ballad" stunk too.  TES is just so much better lyrically and beatwise.

1.Lyricaly, his best album is and always will be "Infinite"
2.Run DMC and Beastie Boys always had a huge rock influence...99.9% of Hip Hop Heads respect them as Hip-Hop pioneers...
3.He gained more fans than he lost with "The Eminem Show"...

heh, as for me, I quit listening to Em when the Marshall Mathers LP came out. He's HipPop now, I liked him when he still weren't famous, he was much better lyrically then, me thinks.

I think maybe what this post is trying to say is that Em gained rock fans and lost some hiphop fans with the album...I know for a fact that he did gain rock fans because his songs were being played on rock stations and alot of the production is rock influenced, but I don't think he lost any hiphop fans in the process...The album was the best selling album of the year at 7.6 million while MMLP is at 8.9 million right now...I think with the release of Superman it's gonna top MMLP in sales or at least equal it...

Its funny how the MMLP gets so much phraise. Ive never understood that, because I consider it to be his worst album. It has some of his best songs ever, like The Way I Am, Stan, Marshall Mathers, and a few others, but there is a ton of filler on the album too. Near the end of the disc, its a filler-fest, and I think the album is rotten at the core. The Slim Shady LP and the Eminem Show are both easily better IMO. The MMLP gets a 3.5/5 from me.

The Slim Shady LP is somewhat overrated, but is still a good album nonetheless, and a funny one too.....SSLP gets a 4/5 from me.

The Eminem Show is easily his best cd to date in my opinion. Em's production is dope, and his flow is sicker than its ever been. This is a more personal album, and even though it was clearly blueprinted from the concept of All Eyez On Me, Em is a better song writer than he is a shock value rapper. All in all, he put a strong album together to release what is his best work to date.......4.5/5
