You must have the worst taste in music Ive ever seen. lmao @ you hatin on Crooked I totally but LOVIN Ego Trippin.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Ego Trippin had 1 track I could listen to without blood running from my ears. Neva Have 2 Worry.

Rest was SHIT

The worst track on Ego Trippin is better than most of Crook's catalogue..

Damn, you serious? "Ego Trippin" is the worst album from Snoop for sure. Crooked got tons of classic material.

Sexual Eruption
Deez Hollywood Nights
Why Did You Leave Me

Cut these three songs and the album is above average, with some really good standouts.

I must admit I did like the album when I first heard it, haven't bumped it in a while though

Truth. But looking back at it now Press Play & Neva Hafta Worry are the two best songs off this & the rest is average.

Hardly worthy of an entire appreciation thread.

To my ears Crooks voice is as bad as his punch lines!

Crook got a dope voice imo. but he also touches different and relevant subjects.

not very often.

yes. all the time. check his weekly series. basically a new subject every week. (whenever it was not just punchline filled)

Cool ok. What's 3 topics say that Crook has rapped about that other rappers ain't covering?

the pakistan earthquake, mosque at ground zero . I dont think anybody touched those subjects but I do know Snoop did not.

And he did the Villain joint which was really well done where is talkin bout change while on an above average lyrical level.

Snoop does the same tired rhymes about the same shit on and on.

Does he have longevity? Really no. He just still sells cause of how strong Doggystyle and Last Meal was.

I think Snoop is cool but I really prefer Crooked I on every level. I just dont see why yall gotta hate Crooked like that?

You obviously have not given him any chance and you guys just set your mind to hate on him.

At the forefront of the media Snoop just doesn't do that kind of politicking in his tracks. I think even if he could, (and I'm not saying he can't) I just don't think he'd want to go down that route...

Good on Crook for doing that, but take a guy like DJ Quik. Would you want him giving us 'the news' in his music? I think Snoop is no different.

Is Crooked I a Conscientious-Folk-Rapper then?

Your point about Snoop not having longevity is funny, seeing as Snoop is still here 20 years later. No one could really argue he hasn't got it. No hate though!

Giving a chance to someone who you recognise not liking, and the clear reasons for not, is a waste of time in my opinion. No hate to you once again!

Its all good. Just nice to see a hip-hop discussion not goin the e-thug route. lol.

and we should have our own opinions  ;D

Well you do have a point in sayin you wouldnt expect somethin like that from DJ Quik/Snoop-type dudes but I was just pointin out what I like about Crook.
That he is hella versatile with flows, subjects etc. (I think Snoop lacks versatility) That for me puts Crook in front of the rest of the MC's today.
I also see why somebody who havent really gotten in to Crook's music would say he is just a freestyle/punchline dude. BUT he does make real songs.
NWA (New West Anthem), Villain, Banger On My Lap, Still Tha Row etc. just shows you he really can make album worthy classic songs.

I might come off as a stan but I do really believe Crooked has everything to keep you entertained for several albums.

and I dont think Snoop has longevity. Yes 20 years but with what kind of music? Quality or is a lot of it forgetable filler material sold by a radio friendly single?

I absolutely LOVE Doggystyle and Tha Last Meal but other than that? 70% filler material.

Still bump "Life Of Da Party", rest of the album doesn't stand up that much. Might give it another listen.
