from what I read, MC Ren was talkin about how he was real pissed that Dre let the NWA reunion album fall apart, and so Dre got word of it, and dissed him. But sometime between when he recorded that verse, and the actual album dropped, they made up, so they censored the word "Ruthless", so that the diss was less intelligible.

A little bit off. Ren dissed him but not because of the N.W.A. reunion, which happened after 2001 came out but because of something else. Dre saw it in an interview and did that track but he stated that when he met with Ren, it was all cool, but it was too late to change the track or something.
