"This DJ" Warren G

...that's my all-time favorite West Coast rap joint.  I mean the track is just so smooth and it was the ultimate summer song, and in the song and video Warren G is talking about being around 12 years old hanging out in the summer time with Snoop back in the good old days and I was actually that same age, 12, when that track was burning up on MTV JAMS and in my cd player all summer long in the summer of 94.  He's riding his bike around in the video and I used to ride my bike everywhere, and remember kids being called in when the street lights came on and all that.  It was just a great time to be a West Coast hip-hop fan and be a kid, that song really captures it all.   Snoop was my favorite rapper at the time and it was all about Death Row, so that Warren G album really came as a surprise to me because it was a non-Death Row release, I remember looking all over the liner notes for that Death Row label and not seeing it... and it didn't sound like hardcore West Coast Rap like I was used to on the Chronic or Doggystyle so the album actually had to grow on me day by day and that just made me love it more.
