Sure it does. Kendrick is getting his own shine and that only helps jay rock and vice versa. It's like saying drake and minaj don't help eachothers success. Obviously they aren't the same commercially but principally it's the same

kendrick is not even a "gang member" and is completely different from jay rock, they are just in a group together.....i don't see where lamar is helping jay rock, honestly.

That's exactly the point. They may appeal to different fan bases but because they work together thier more likely to have fans checking eachothers music out and digging it. Same as jay rock signing to strange. Tech fans wouldn't normally listen to jay rock but since he signed him it's introducing him to a different fan base.

nipseys flow was choppy, it was more of a mainstream type of flow, but his flow was never as good as jay rocks, but it was more of nipseys style.

i thought dude could be in the lime light by the way he raps and his style, but not off talent. he reminds me alot  about game, without being a faggot and name dropping all the time, but with more style to the way he raps. lil bit above average rapper.

jay rock is a good rapper, but his style is boring, even for a westcoast cat like me, i like everything about him, beat selection, verses, etc etc, but man some of his songs are so slow and boring it just bores the shit outta me even if it is a decent song, and those songs most def dont get put on rotation.

You should have talked about Tech, not Kendrick Lamar. If you tell me that Jay Rock has a better team because is signed with Strange Music i agree...

lol, kendrick helps by being one of the best mcs on the westcoast, it helps his record label.

that "gang member" doesnt mean anything, "game" didnt join the hood till after he started/beginning of his rapping career. and all that gangbangin shit isnt in right now, and if it was id bet kendrick would hop on something or state/claim that he prob rolled wit some peeps. and he probably did/does.

anyways when kendrick was k.dot that nigga was a whackass lil wayne on some westcoast gangbang tip, but found his own unique style rather than be a straight up gangsta rapper like every other nigga over here.

and black hippy is a sick group, as a group all their tracks are pretty much fire. i dont know what your talking elano.

this. i don't get all the hype around Jay Rock, his beats are good but damn it's hard to listen to his songs entirely. i'm gonna check his album out but i'm not expecting anything refreshing.

ok well heres my take on it...first off, nipsey >>>>> jay rock x 1000000
better beats better flow...jay rock does open up onto more social commentary, but its his boring ass generic beat selection that kills it for me...jay rock has much potential but i cant completely get into him...hes missing something..that extra "oomphh" factor..
i stopped checkin for jay rock cause i was sick of the same generic tracks..but when i saw the album was finna really drop i said ima give it a sample and support this if its worth it...surprise surprise..i was greeted with more stuff that made me snore in the beat department...cause he was spittin, much respect in that aspect...but once again it was missing something...

I never understood that. Why are we supporting albums we haven't even heard a single off of? What if it's terrible?

Supporting the West was cool when you knew Pac or Cube were dropping an album & you knew it was going to be hot due to their track record. Now we're just blindly supporting albums of artists who have proved nothing except for that they shout "West Coast" at least once per song.

Most West Coast artists are just trying to dial in with an old school formula that doesn't work anymore.

A guy like Kendrick made something that sounds different. Innovation is what the West needs. They need to jump off that "Sittin' under a palm tree, smokin' bomb weed" shit.

Then you have a guy like Hopsin, who isn't your typical, Dre rip-off bangin' beat & simple lyrics & he only gets a thread when he's dropping an album.

Agree with everything u just said

well u can say its both, obviously jay rock blew up b4, therefore him being the head of the record label and being able to sign kendrick, Q, and absoul.

and kendricks been spittin fire since 07 so it helps no doubt TDE. kendricks the best rapper lyrically/talent wise out of black hippy.

rock just lacks style, only thing, but i love rock when he goes on an uptempo beat, his flow isnt too boring

Lil B, New Boyz, Tyga and Far East Movement have different sounds and yet they're considered the cancer of the west coast.

True. But they went for high commerical success. I'm just talking about making dope music, that doesn't even have to sell. Like I mentioned, Hopsin.

I'm just guessing here but i think the whole Big-U thing put alot of shit on ice (at least for the moment). Big-U was probably the hook up to Epic. I'm not saying they ain't cool but i think there's alot of issues maybe
in his camp/hood over some shit which artists usually go through once they catch a lil buzz.
