Strikeforce – Fedor vs. Henderson
« on: July 30, 2011, 03:38:28 PM »

tonight’s fights are going to be awesome.  Fedor vs. Henderson?  Seriously, I get to see that?  Ridiculous, I don’t deserve such good fortune.  Tate vs. Coenen, Daley vs. Woodley, Lawler vs. Kennedy, Kedzie vs. Davis…all incredible fights. Not to mention Gesias Cavalcante is a great fighter though the match up is a bit lopsided. Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson is live on Showtime tonight at 10:00 PM EST/9:00 PM CST.

great night of fights.

Heavyweight: Dan Henderson d. Fedor Emelianenko (TKO – Round 1, 4:12)

still cant believe what happend between Fedor & Henderson the round was a classic. i was hoping fedor would pull through tho but still it was as good as i could of possibly expected.  I really feel like the stoppage was appropriate since you can see Fedor’s arms going limp at his side as he crumples face first to the mat. Both fighters have interesting decisions to make from here with Fedor having lost three fights in a row and Hendo’s contract with Strikeforce having expired.  I’m not sure what challenges Hendo has left in Strikeforce and the UFC could work depending on how willing Dana White is to make that happen.  Fedor’s return isn’t guaranteed after last night’s performance and we’ll have to see what “God’s will” dictates.

Women’s Welterweight Title: Miesha Tate d. (c) Marloes Coenen (Submission – Round 4, 3:13)
I did not think we would see Miesha Tate submit Marloes Coenen so i was pretty suprised. I knew Miesha’s wrestling would be strong enough to take the win, but Miesha successfully worked for an arm triangle to become the champion. Tate can look forward to rematching with Sarah Kaufman, who holds a win over Tate in her career.  Marloes could likely fight Alexis Davis, who was successful last night against Julie Kedzie.

Welterweight: Tyron Woodley d. Paul Daley (Unanimous Decision)
Paul Daley can’t fight wrestlers.  That is a fact of life Woodleys performance left still some to be desiered Daley was the one who kept this fight exciting while the only word that describes Woodley’s offense is “smothering”.

Middleweight: Tim Kennedy d. Robbie Lawler (Unanimous Decision)

So I don’t think we’ll see Robbie Lawler in Strikeforce anymore.  His performance last night was absolutely miserable and he seemed perfectly content to lose to Tim Kennedy.  Kennedy  clearly wanted the victory more than Lawler, who did a whole lot of nothing.

Welterweight: Tarec Saffiedine d. Scott Smith (Unanimous Decision)

While we’re at it, let’s get rid of Scott Smith as well.  Tarec Saffiedine abused Smith for 15 minutes and looked good in doing so.  Smith never really got things going and seemed hesitant to strike, while Saffiedine was clearly confident in his abilities as the fight went on.

The way Fedor got hit with that under-the-arm uppercut made me sad. People are claiming fluke, but Hendo was hitting him with bombs the entire round. Fedor was constantly getting hurt and not protecting himself from blows to the head so it was only a matter of time before he was gonna go down. Makes me sad since Fedor used to be a beast back in the day.

With these refs Fedor would have lost half his fights in Pride to ref stoppages.

He seemed like he could of continued. Henderson got rocked moments before.

It's a good thing Dana White wasn't the promoter behind Rocky Balboa's fights; Rocco would have been 0-37.

ive seen fedor comeback but not go limp and comeback. he was out. he was knocked back into conciousness but a KO is a KO no 10 second count.
