i was having a debate on rap with some girl on the internet (i know it's pointless) and i told her that i pretty much listen to DJ Quik lately because his crew and him are 97.9 times on some real shit. anyways, she said to me "if this DJ Quik guy is so good, why haven't i heard of him but i've heard of Nelly and Ja Rule?"

i was offended that she grouped those names together so i told her like this... because you're one of those stupid bitches that throw away $16 for some gay ass dude that's cd subject matter is something like "i have all this money, rolexs, and jewelry so buy my cd and i'll tell you all about it on every one of my songs"

the majority of rap isn't contraversial anymore. (by that i mean thought provoking not that i fucked 2 girls with out a condom and went out and smoked some cops stuff) radio stations and record companies have found a cheap way to sell rap to everyone from 40 year old white italian ladies down to 6 year old black kids. this is hip pop which leads to the decline of another type of rap....

gangsta rap(pers) are dying out because the younger people are being brought up in the hip pop fan base and the ones that listened to it back in the 90's are older now...not too many of us can relate to shooting up a supermarket full of people while doing a crack sale. to be honest with you, that music was entertaining to me back then but it's really not anymore.

so while these are the two main flavors of rap right now. one, thats quickly becoming an epidemic while the other is seen as the hay day of rap, the rap that never was in the lime light, well more honestly, never widely excepted was the thought provoking rap.

so as fans of this genre we're stuck with three choices, sell-out, die-out or go unheard. think of that next time you're in a supermarket and some little white girl knows all the words to some ja rule song, sit back and reminisce the next time you look over when you're at a stop sign and you see some young thugs bumping that gangsta shit, or just chill in your house, drink beers, play video games, and watch your friends ask "who are you listening to? oh ok. shut up and pick your play asshole."

Rap and Hip Hop aren't dead, and they won't be dead, as long people like us listen to real rappers and not to faggots like the Murder INC- suckers!!! And there are still many rappers, who keep it RAW! As long they do, Rap keeps living!
