Yeah, I think it's been bastardized.  I'll tell ya the way to go:

The singer Songwriters, that's the future of music, I think, people like norah jones, etc. are really creative and changing music, again, that's the bandwagon i'm hopping on to get the hell outta here, LOL.

Yup Hatesrats on point as usual. Shit I'll expand it and say good music in general is dead. I know it's still out there, but its sparse and doesn't get recognition.

I blame the major labels, radio stations and corporations who have made it too much of a business. It's all about who can find the next hot fad they can milk for an album or two.

And I think hip hop in general has lost its spark, there's so much unoriginal recycled crap out there. It's just a part of the system now, it's not challenging anything musically or culturally anymore IMO.

I think rap and Hip-Hop have been dead, and dead for a while. I'd say about mid-2000 is when it was offically dead, we were just too blind to see. I think right now, there are people trying to breath air into the lungs of real Hip-Hop, like KRS-One, Common, Nas, The Roots and Ras Kass. But the forces of Neptunes, Nelly and R&B singers trying to be Hip-Hop is just too strong. Like Common said, I Used to Love H.E.R., but I ain't dissing the westcoast on this, I'm dissing commercial.
