That "Favorite Rapper's Favorite Rapper" moniker only really worked for Scarface, in my opinion. He was an artist that didn't get neccesarily the appropriate mainstream love but artists like 2Pac, Ice Cube, DMX, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and so forth all fucked with him. That title felt appropriate for him because if you had someone that was kind of a casual hip-hop fan, they might not be fully in the know but nearly every artist you name off as your favorite would have him in their top 10.

i understand what ur sayn, but Face was more of a resepcted dude in teh game, not necessarirly a "favorite rapper" or "mc" per say.  Just like Beanie Sigel n 2pac, Face was always (for some reason) hailed as "realness", thats why everybody fucked wit him (kinda like how rappers r fuckin wit Bun B today)
i guess, the true "favortie rapper-rappers" were probly the ones that they all grew up on - i.e. Kool G Rap and KRS One..  rappers from the south grew up on Geto Boys n UGK tho

But I would accept Bun under that title too because he's arguably on that level. You could give it to G. Rap as well. It's these other dudes who just live off it like its the gimmick to do.

yeah the moniker doesn't fit at all for Mac Shawn, who's barely known outside of Northern California lol but i think it's appropriate for his cousin E-40. 40 gets a lot of hate from so called purists but he's highly respected by artists these purists have wet dreams about (and other mainstream rappers like Nelly too)... I know he's one of Blaq Thought's favorite rappers, Bun B also said he was intimidated when he was in the booth with 40, and other rappers like Talib Kweli and Tech9ne... plus the fact that he popularized so many terms in the rap game is also telling.

but yeah i guess Rakim, KRS, Kool G Rap, 2pac, etc. are every rapper's (from the 90's) favorite rapper basically.

either way, did anyone listen to mac shawn's ep ? i do think he's washed up nowadays but we never know it might be decent
