AllHipHop.com: What went wrong?

Jewell: Suge is what went wrong (laughs). You don't mix the streets with music. You don't fault other people because they are from a different Coast or cultures. You don't mis-use and take advantage of your artists. Your artists are the elements that make your music company and if you damage that, you're killing your financial stability as a label. Things began to get personal with him (Suge) making threats to various artists on the East Coast. It brought all of this beef. Music is designed to enhance our lives, not to ruin it.

I don't regret my time on Death Row Records because it has made me who I am today. I just regret the way things turned out. I regret Dr. Dre not standing up after Suge left the picture, to keep the formula going by keeping everybody together. I guess he was so burned out by the situation. He went his own separate way and everybody else kind of went their own ways.
yet there's still people who act like suge is a legend :-X

like it or not Suge is a legend regardless of the dirt he did to other people and no matter how much of an asshole he actually is. he still created one of the biggest empires in hip-hop history. if people were to be stripped of their legendary status because they did other people shady there would barely be any legend at all standing lol. (no berry gordy, no dick griffey, no J. prince, no Diddy, etc.)
he deserves credit for helping to build that label, nothing more.

People hate on Suge for his "ruthless tactics" and "intimidating methods" but its them same methods that got Dre off Ruthless, and most of the deals that got done on Deathrow.
and fucked up the label in the long run.
the stolen contracts didn't release dre. jimmy iovione convinced ruthless to let dre go & made sure ruthless got compensated for the release.
he wasn't a great CEO.

i disagree about dre leaving: he did the right thing. death row was a timebomb, he left before it was too late.
i doubt he could have taken the early death row artists with him, due to legal issues. he could have kept in touch though.

I can understand Dre's reasons for leaving. It's a shame that he had to give up his half of the company just to get away from Suge, though.
yeah, i believe he could have gotten more from death row, financially.

well that's enough to warrant him a legendary status in hip-hop history. legends don't have to be saints, good samaritans or even good people.

i know that. it's just that some people act like he was such a great CEO. he was a key figure of death row, no doubt about that.

So Dre abandoned her, Snoop robber her, Eazy's widow told her to fuck off and Suge wrecked her whole career. What a waste of one of the best hip-hop singers.

Look's like she going to be dishing some dirt with her book. Should be some chuckles.

She probably got fucked on the low too. She's basically your average american woman. Get nutted on, get fucked for money and fucked over and then become bitter, fat and write books about you claiming your gay, broke or beat her (not saying that she's done it but i wouldn't be shocked if she did).

Although with Snoop it's "alleged" - to be fair. But wow... what a sum up! If I ever write a book, I'm coming to you for one of those quotes on the back cover.

Dunno if you asked this during the interview Styles, but the album that WideAwake is putting out, is that the "Black Diamond" record that she said was completed or is it going to be a compilation of songs done while on the label?
