So, the Raiders still make idiotic moves without Al Davis...

A first and second round pick for Carson Palmer?!? Wow  ::)

It's a shame. I like this franchise but c'mon.

If they win a playoff game that second round pick becomes a first round pick in 2013.

Which is an expensive price. But at the same time, if they win a playoff game, it means this deal worked out.

I just think a first & second rounder for an injury prone QB on the wrong side of 30 who struggled in his last season or two, that's just crazy expensive.

I think it's a great move. Hard to believe they may give up two first round picks but it's all in here and Hue thinks an elite level QB will make the difference. I've got a lot of faith in Carson as a pocket passer behind and incredible run game, and he's always played well in those situations, especially with no diva WRs in Oakland. Basically if Cinci ends up with a top 10 2012 and a top 5 second round pick in 2013 it was the dumbest move the raiders ever did. But if Cinci ends up with the 28th or 29th pick in rounds 1 of 2012 and 2013 then it's a better move than any of Al's big gambles, and if Cinnci ends up with the 32nd pck in next year's draft it's the smartest move of all time by Hue Miller.

Now  still don't think they have a shot at beating GB but I think Carson is the only available QB good enough to give them a shot at beating anyone else come January.

I love this move. We saw the New York Giants in 2008. Squeaked into the playoffs, won some games & then went on to Superbowl Champs.

Carson gives them an amazing chance at that birth & gives them a pretty good chance at the division even.

Lol this is a terrible move. Raiders aren't winning the superbowl regardless and now they give up another first round pick? Possibly two? So much for the raiders future.

I feel the Raiders future is right now. They have a great ground game & a solid defense. It's all you need. Unless they were going 0-16, they weren't getting Luck this year, you need a QB, it's a QB league. Carson was a great QB a couple years ago, then that franchise fucked up.

The Raiders are kind of like a young Jets team, in my opinion. The year Rex Ryan ran the show, they had a good chance of winning the Superbowl. They have one this year, maybe next year & after that, it's over. It's kind of like the Pats, if their offense wasn't great & didn't have arguably the greatest QB ever, that ship would of sailed for them. The Steelers are a great example. Defensively they are getting old, their window closed. The Raiders window is just opening, in my opinion. They are still a few moves away, but I don't know if having those draft picks would of made that much of a difference. It's not problems a good free agent signing couldn't fix.

However, that's all assuming Carson comes back & plays up to par. I suppose kind of a silly assumption.

I expect him to take some time to get used to the system and his WRs, but Darren McFadden is going to be his best friend for the first 4 weeks. Luckily the Chargers have to travel to the Jets and Oakland gets to host KC so Palmer, if he starts right away gets an easy first win, and if he doesn't start he can watch the Raiders beat the Chiefs from the bench and then get a week off to learn more on the bye and them come back and host Denver to a probable win before having to prove himself in San Diego for week 10. I think the week 10 game will determine who is going to the playoffs and who is staying home.

The jets had the best defense in the league. The raiders are a middle of the pack d with an awful secondary. They are a fringe playoff team at best, no shot at a superbowl. Their offense is one dimensional. This trade is just mind numbingly dumb. Your mortaging your future for a qb who's probably done. Carson hasn't been the same since his knee injury.

Raiders suck at drafting early, so it's not like if it really matters lol.  Their best young players right now have been drafted in the later rounds.

Carson's gonna really start to open it up on the field with Mcfadden as a constant threat, its a good move, and most importantly above all for the franchise..  A TICKET SELLER.

If Carson comes out, they will compliment each other. Similar to when Favre went to the Vikings with AP in his backfield.
