Are all those stats for digital sales only?  I know the singles are but what about the others?

Digital and Physical sales bro.

I don't get people saying "Teens don't know Dre's name", this song was marketed as a Dre single, if you downloaded it it's in your ipod under Dr Dre not Eminem. If it sold just off Em's name how come "Lighters" isn't up there as well? If it sold of Skyler Grey and Alex Da Kids name how come "Words I Never Said" isn't up there?

Dr Dre's most embarrassing single went double plat? Not the kind of encouragement he needs.

If dre got a release date and said detox actually was scheduled to drop most of you would be in line to get it. Bottom line is there is no proof its coming as of now. No single, i think Dre has put himself out there in the past 2 years after not making appearances on records for years. It's like dre is easing his way back into the rap game. You all can't deny everytime a snippet of a track on a commercial (die hard) or unfinished tracks leak, most of you cream your pants when you see a download link. There has to be some master plan behind this.

I like it more than when it came out (no homo)

 ???

Yeah I said it.

It's a fun track to bump...Em and Dre play parts in full character and Em's verse is monster (just very, very corny).

dre was always a factor in hip hop. it's just his consistency sucks. bein that popped off is a track he recently done i anticipate more in the vein of or better but if dre want people to dig his new shit he should produce his own album and show people why he's still worthy of being call the greatest. it seems he does but if we don't see it we don't know. wit that said, i need a doctor was cool but i rather hear his beats.

Did any of you who make these assumptions about what young people like actually talk to people in their teens and early twenties? I mean, it seems like people hit that 27 or 28 candle on their birthday cake and just assume that anyone that's five or six years younger only listens to Lil Wayne and Drake. Detox is still a relevant topic. As long as the artists still putting out music (Em, Snoop, 50, Game) are being asked about Dre and Detox, the public is still aware. The only people actually bothered are the people who bought Chronic when they were 12.

lol i'm 23 and i'm telling you, speaking with dudes in their teens a lot of them don't know who Dre is or if they do they barely do and it's mostly due to the headphones. not everybody, especially the youngsters, read Snoop's or 50's interviews (which are old ass rappers for the new generation, who're more known for being socialites than for being top of the line rappers)... so "the public" (whatever that means) is not necessarily aware. yeah Detox is relevant, no doubt, but it's gonna take a monster single or a big publicity stunt to revamp the hype. but it's not likely to happen soon since Dre is allegedly taking a break.

There seems (or seemed) to be this collective belief that Dre could never fall off since he is so often cited as one of the best producers of all time.  If music history has taught us anything it is that no one act can stay on top forever.  Most of the generation that grew up thinking that Dre was one of the greatest didn't really know or give a fuck about Quincy Jones, who arguably was the greatest producer to the previous generation.  Why then would it be surprising that today's youth can't relate to music that was produced 10 to 15 years ago?

I don't think we should be bitter about this.  We just have to accept the reality: only a small percentage of today's youth would actually be receptive to educating themselves on timeless classics (Dre, Quincy, etc.).

While Dre might not be able to craft that captivating shit like he did in the past, those of us who have been diversifying our musical tastes these past 10 to 15 years have not been disappointed.  If you only ride with one type of artist/producer, you are eventually going to be disappointed in his new material.  Great music is being made today by new acts, you just have to search for it and embrace creative and innovative sounds.  Otherwise, keep waiting (Detox is coming) and time will pass you by...

Peace!
