U must be talking about tracks like " Freaky Tales " right ? There is a huge difference between that classic , pioneering bay shit , and the shit that the south is putting out now..E-40 just recently posted a pic of himself and Lil Wayne chillin on Facebook , u know why ? Because he is sucking the south's dick like Too Short is ..No one wants to hear that bullshit , booty shaking garbage they are putting out...Keep it real and stick with the bay funk that made u ! Those beats back in the late eighties shit all over everything the south puts out nowadays , so there is no comparison .

Another dirty south imitation track, yaaaawn  ...No love for him cuz he hopped on the southern bandwagon and adandoned the bay ..He mentions the bay often , but like Short , he is on the south's nuts to the extreme ..
it is an Another dirty south imitation track at all because the south stole there style from the bay ,ignorant .  what you call southern style was started in the bay . so it is not southern at all but bay style  . the south has been on the bay nuts since the 80's .so get facts straight & know your history .

i usually disagree with you but i'm pretty much with you on that one even though i wouldn't be that radical (my lean hip-hop knowledge doesn't allow me to be that severe lol)

that song is a typical E-40 modern club song. nothing to do with the South. a lot of scenes from the South (in terms of musical influence and style) owe more to E-40 (and the bay) than E-40 owes to the South (listen to Carlos Rossi from The Click (1992)). it's true that E-40 adapted his style to a more southern type of style when he signed with Lil Jon. but let's be real this song isn't what you call a modern "south song" and the revenue retrievin series have been typical Bay Area slaps all along, with a few South features that have been fucking with E-40 for decades (except Gucci Mane). but i wouldn't mind him collaborating with south artists because his style meshes well with them. i'd like to hear 40 on another Mannie Fresh beat (that baller blockin' song was good). I think Bengladesh will be on the album but i don't reall like him so...

I'm not a huge fan of Droop-E. I like him to an extent (his ep is solid) but I would like E-40's shit to sound funkier at times, like it did with Studio Ton, Al Eaton, K-Lou, Funk Daddy and Bosko... but with a modern twist of course. I'd like to see 40 fuck with Jazzy Pha more too. I've always liked their songs "Ya Blind" (feat. 8-Ball) and Can't Stop The Boss (amazing production).

some cats here ae bitter and dont wanna see an artist switch it up for shit.

i cant see that the south bit the bay at all they share similarities but thats about it.

they both utilize alot of 808s and shit but not to veer to far off topic i think lil jon has as a producer bit alot of the wcs concepts and i think jermaine dupree also used to bite deathrow ALOT but when they were coming up during 95 thats what everybody played...that was the sound of hip hop...it was either rugged east coast or g funk.

i don't think "bite" is the word, but the bay and the south (and also the midwest) were connected somehow and cats like Too $hort, Spice 1 & E-40 definitely had an influence on the trends that were going on.that may be why you had them popping up on south albums here and there. the south on the other hand helped a lot of westcoast artists reach platinum & gold status(with westcoast oriented radio hosts like Mean Green). also a lot of underground projects from the Bay, South & midwest were distributed by Solar Music Group, which was run by E-40's Uncle, Saint Charles Thurman. I think the scene that was the closest to the Bay (and the westcoast) was the H-Town scene. Houston always had its own flavor and is one of the deepest scenes in terms of underground releases, but if you listen to carlos rossi by E-40, listen to the chorus, that's a "screwed & chopped" kind of chorus even before DJ Screw was in full motion. DJ Screw was a huge westcoast fan, C-BO was his favorite artist. and Rap-a-lot had bay and westcoast acts : Seagram, Coz, Yukmouth. i think in the end the bay & the south influenced each other back and forth and there's a lot of bickering about petty matters (like who came up with the expression "what it do" lol) but many south artists incorporated many elements that were introduced by bay artists. but at the end of the day it doesn't matter cause if we're going that route, it's a never ending story but to me it appears that E-40 & Too $hort especially influenced the South a lot.

for someone like Pimp C to say "just got back from california kicked it with B-Legit, put me down with purple chronic and that hurricane shit, at the Studio with Ton man i wish i could stay", it speaks volume on how The Click & Studio Ton influenced some of the biggest names in Texas. but that doesn't mean they sound alike and UGK has made far better music than The Click to this day musically, conceptually and flow wise.

and you're right in 95 that's what everybody played just like today a lot of westcoast acts emulate the southern sound. at the end of the day if people can relate to your shit and like it they're gonna incorporate what they like into their music. so when someone big blows up you're gonna see people emulating the sound right away like it happened for Rakim, NWA, Snoop, Biggie, Timbaland, Kanye, etc.

that being said Mr Flamboyant 2011 has been one of E-40's illest songs in a long while  8)
