ice cube's washed up

i'm sorry people but ice cube's aftermath album will probably suck a fat dick, he hasn't really dropped and verses lately that were any more than average, but people think this'll be great just cause it's on aftermath

PS. i am not a cube hater, in fact he's one of my faves of all time

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Controversial!  ;D  Nah, I agree; Cube ain't half of what he was, listening to anything he's done over the past five years or more, all the intelligence has gone.

His Aftermath set could go either way. He and Dre might totally revitalise each other and create the best album the West has heard in years - Dre and Cube together at their best would shit on Dre and Rakim at their best IMO.

On the other hand, if Cube follows Dre's recent track record and just raps about much money and juice he's got and how the hip-hop community owes him a living, it'll fucking ruin the NWA legacy.

Who can tell? We'll have to wait and see...

I disagree...

What ya'll don't realize is that cube is a TRUE hustler. He knows whats popular, caters to that, and leaves it before it becomes chilche. He hasn't dropped anything political in the past 5 years because it wouldn't sell records.

I dunno... that sounds like the definition of a sellout to me. I think he's just lost some of the hunger. That's one of my points - in the best-case scenario, Dre will help him re-capture that. But Dre has been sub-standard for at least 18 months now in my book, so I just pray the two bounce of each other, cuz I'd love them to do something mindblowing. I just wouldn't put money on it yet...

I think music is not Cube's #1 priority right now, that's why he hasn't dropped the quality albums like he has in the past...He's more into making movies cause he can make alot more money that way...I still think he can drop a hot album if he's totally focused, that new DOC joint with Ren and Snoop, Cube ripped it...

yeah i think he ripped it on wc's album too on the track walk, "ice cube motherfucka, i represent this/don't confuse the master with the apprentice" - deadly line

i agree he hasn't dropped anything exciting since bow down but dre won't let him bring bullshit rhymes i don't think, and cube will def want to step up his game for dre and he knows that a collabo like this has high expectations.

he needs to come with some political shit, like death certificate, maybe make a track like true to the game.
and i really want somebody to diss him soon, cuz dude makes the best diss songs, but i think he has too much respect.

Hmm cube has been so busy trying to get his film company off the ground..its just like when people said dre fell off before chronic 2k1 because he was working on so many other peoples albums and his own record label...
...give the brother some peace, he will prove he is still the don-mega..
Cube has come up with some of the best lyrics lately even if they are guest spots on records and to say that his war + peace was weak? damn we must have bought a different record...he showed to me that he was still capable of tunes reminicent predator etc back in the day (not on all tracks granted..but who has an album that is 100% classic nowadays?)
