I agree wit NIK, Dre said he had some of his best beats on the 50 Cent album...and most people said they were dissapointed in the production, so he wont be up to par

Dre has been steadily falling off since 1996.

right on!!! I think he has fallen off ...but 2001 he was untoicahable....che ahs made over 1500 beats so he must be running low (most unreleased) ....

songs like "Papa Lil Solider" by 40 glocc were weak!!!!!

I agree with NIK, I think a lot of people on here are goin to be dissapointed due to the fact that people hype the album up so much.  Snoop is a perfect example of this.  Seems like every album snoop has dropped since da game, the few people who hear the album before everyone else talk like it is gonna be the next doggystyle, or snoop is back to his doggystyle days.  Mellowman has really hyped up this album, but I don't believe mellowman anymore.  I either think he is a fake, or he just don't have a clue.  I don't know if I will be dissapointed with dre's album.  I am not really hyping it or anticipating it at all, because I know it could very well be another 2-3 years before it drops.  Here is my opinion on it tho:

2001 did not top the og chronic, but it is a damn good album

a huge part of Dre's albums rely on guest appearances.  If it is chalk full of guest who I am not a huge fan of, yet dre has worked with most as of recent (eminem, truth hurts, busta rhymes, jay Z, all those other east coast artists who he has worked with in the last few years.) then yeah I will be dissapointed I can almost guarantee it.  But if Dre stocks it full of west coast cats and makes it a true west coast album (Snoop, nate, nwa, king T, butch cassidy, daz, kurupt, lady of rage, dj quik, kokane, wc, Xzibit, etc.) then I think I will be very pleased.

then there is the part about Dre sayin that he wants to stay away from gangsta rap, and the bad perceptions of it.  Can he make good positive music?  I don't know.  Seems like most of this board doesn't like Snoop's positive music (Paid da boss), but I did.  I like the gangsta snoop better, but I still liked that album.

then there is the beats.  99% of the time dre usually comes good with the beats.  Sure they are not all groundbreaking and make u go  :o but 99.98% Dre's beats I have never said, oh this is garbage, I can't even listen to the song cause of the beat.  So I am sure Dre will please us with the beats, and like I said, even if they are not ground breaking like we anticipate, they sure as hell won't be bad.

I don't think Dre will dissapoint, he always saves his best beats for his own albums...He was just hyping 50's album when he was said that it was going to be classic...

It's going to be classic like Chronic & 2001.

However, if you're expecting the whole Westcoast to jump out of your speakers and slap you in the face, you ARE gonna be disappointed.
Just stay humble, and except a dope album.. then you won't be disappointed.

Right on $uga Foot, sit back and watch what happens. Good post AcGrundy, a lot of the big names are trying to be more positive lately but they're having trouble marketing it because their older fan base only like the ruggedness of older releases (Though obviously not all). But when you've been away from the streets for as many years as snoop n dre its hard to make hard gangsta tracks. But hey looks like I've gone off topic, so basically NIK's made a good point: A lot of people overhype albums (like paid da cost) and then get disappointed. I'm afraid im guilty of overhyping paid da cost (love the album but not as much as I expected) and don't want to do that again with Detox. My 2c

How is this "a fact" NIK?  Who told you this, Dre?

I think it will be a banger...something totally different, it may scare some people, like you because it will be so different, and on a different level.  I still don't see this album coming out for 2 years though.
