My Classic Song Of The Week...

Now, I'm going to try to do this at least once a week, but no promise...

My song of the week is from Kam and Ice Cube. The song is about the L.A. riots that broke out in the early 1990's after the verdict of "Not Guilty" broke  out from the courthouse. As well all know... rodney king was beat down by a group of cops, and to all who saw the amateur video, it looked like a vicious attack on a man who already threw up the white flag



The beating let king quite injured, but besides that fact... the real anger was the fact that these men who beat him, were the authority who protect, and well... rodney king wasn't even fighting back, the cops just beat him down



however, the controversy got real heavy after the trial. The cops were found not guilty of the act and were let off free... sending a clear message to america... and Los Angeles.... this isn't a free country.... a riot soon broke out in Watts... and it was like Black vs. White... I'll never forget seeing this poor semi driver get dragged out by a bunch of black men and get beat down... scary shit...Los Angeles went from a city to a warzone, causing a national emergency on the city.....



fire's broke out everywhere, people were going around breaking everything, going into stores and breaking stuff, burning things, tipping over cars, shootings broke out... it was hectic shit... and this song  is all about it...

I'll  never forget the line Kam says "now it's damn near illegal to be a negro" ..... or .... "god damn devils have finally made their move on downtown los angeles" ......
