Exclusive Interview with King T (New Release, Dre, Likwit & More) - By : Rud - July 10, 2012

If there was a West Coast Mount Rushmore then King T would have to be on it. From "Act A Fool" to "Thy Kingdom Come," this West Coast vet has delivered time and time again. Now, after a hiatus King T the Great is nearly done with his newest offering "The Triflin’ Mixtape" - a collection of original material will re-introduce him to the new generation of Hip Hop listeners.

Javon caught up with King T as he puts the finishing touches on the project and delves into the possible Likwit Crew project, what his favorite album is and why, what it’s like to work with Dr. Dre - including how it was to work on and ultimately leave Aftermath Entertainment.

We also get the latest on what you can expect from "The Triflin’ Mixtape" - due later this month - that will include the singles Pus-Say featuring Xzibit, Butch Cassidy and Mr. Silky Slimm as well as Do U Rememba Me alongside MC Eiht, Big 2 Daboy and Yung Gold over a Seige Monstracity instrumental!

We teased you with excerpts of our interview last month on the Microphone Masters Radio Show Episode 55 (06/25/12) but today we can allow you to listen to or Read the interview in full below!

King T is a legend but after checking out this conversation you will see that he is as hungry as ever! Hip Hop is all he has ever known and is a huge part of his life.

Exclusive Interview with King T (July 2012)

Good interview. Looking forward to part 2.

It's a shame his situation at Aftermath didn't work out, but he obviously grew from it and admits he made a mistake which you gotta respect.

Props good read.

All this shit about 'Dre knows a hit, if it ain't right don't put it out' is ok, but Dre fell off hard without OGs like King T in his camp.

Ya it was literally right after King T left Aftermath that Dre got back in the spotlight. He has more or less stayed there ever since.

thanks for the interview.

he said he left aftermath with his masters, so i guess he's finally admitting that he put out the album independently

"without OG's in his camp"

Dre's output has gradually been watered down. It last peaked in 1999/2000...and has gotten steadily worse ever since. The people he's working with now don't compare to the OG artists in their prime.

lol, in what way would Dre benefit from workin wit a washedup artist like King T?
is he better/more interesting, than the  current roster on his label - Eminem and Kendrik etc?
no

u think Dre would reach a new peak musicaly if he, all of a sudden, would focus on production-duties for King T in 2012?
no

u focus too much on nostalgia

the breakin point for Dr Dre and his creativity in music,
happened when he stopped producin for your favorite nostalgia-"O.G.'s"?  --> King T, Dogg Pound, C.P.O., MC Ren, Michel'le etc etc?

you are retarded

No I'm talking bout the 1st generation artists and producers/musicians at Aftermath, then Eminem + Bass Brothers / Chronic 2001...+ his OG ghost writers (Hittman + Drauma)

Steady decline after MMLP.

Eminem is still around on Aftermah. he never left, so i dunno waht ur cryin about tho.
Bass Brothers were never part of Aftermath, tahts a Detroit-production team that used to manage Eminem before Dre scooped him up.
Dre's music doesnt suck more objectively, just because 1 or 2 ghostwriters like Knoc-Turn'Al or Hittman arent around to pen a verse for him.  he had diffrent sets of ghostwriters during the years, - but a ghostwriter doesnt have to anythin do
wit Dre's music/production duties. "Drop a Bomb On Em", for Eminem is an incredible beat. same thing wit "Crack a Bottle"/// "Drop It" for Papoose & Busta Rhymes. have u heard it? "Bitch, Im Back" for Slim Thug? "Imagine" for Snoop etc etc. list goes on n on
the only ones who arent around today, are 3 names - Stu-B-Doo, Melman and Bud'da,
but he has a team of producers today, like Khalil, Parker, Batson, Hi-Tek, Focus,
all of them are equally talented as the earlier scholars. the first team on Aftermath (incl. Dre), was responsible for "the aftermath" compilation and the The Firm-album. the Aftermah-compilation from 95 sucked ass, and The Firm album isnt impressive or holds weight as the best thing that Aftermath ever did.  besides, teh first generation
of producers, didnt make or break anythin as hits or musicaly great on Aftermath Entertainment - Dre did that
same thing wit the NWA-era,,, D.J. Yella didnt make or break the hits or teh great N.W.A.stuff - Dre did that.
Colin Wolfe or Daz,,, didnt make or break hits or the great stuff on teh first "Chronic" - Dre did that.
