"TMZ reports that MC Eiht has taken issue with United States Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, over the latter's attempt to trademark the phrase "jeah." "Why try and trademark something his ass didn’t even create? I am mad that he isn’t giving me proper recognition for taking my saying," explained the West Coast veteran. "He is just disrespectful." Adding that his concern is about "respect and truth," and not about money, Eiht revealed that he plans on sending a cease and desist letter to Lochte. Lochte claims that he created the term by deriving it from Young Jeezy's use of "chea," and states that his phrase means something "good." I haven't heard Eiht complain until Lochte tried to actually copyright the term Jeah. So basically Eiht was annoyed, then when Lochte tried to copyright, Eiht got mad because he'd been getting rich of Jeah for like 20 years. Makes sense to me. Everyone else here must be under 16.

Two things ---- 

Firstly, I can see why Eiht is mad. If this gets copyrighted, he'll be out of like 80% of his rhymes.

Secondly, the world is being copyrighted and trademarked all to hell. It's ridicilous when people and major corporations are buying up fairly common expressions and phrases and trying to claim ownership of them. The amount of frivilous fucking lawsuits over shit that the public should own would be laughable if it weren't for all these artists just trying to create who can't because Sony is hanging them over the fucking wall over some intellectual property that they raped away from some deceased artist's estate for seven cents on the dollar. I was reading this one article that was commenting that if Shakespeare had to obey the same laws in his time that we did now, next to none of his popular work would have been legally allowed to exist.

exactly. i'd agree on the "washed up" argument if Eiht had jumped on the occasion asap but the way i see it he's only doing it because Lochte is trying to copyright the thing, which is ridiculous imo.
