I think this is actually a step up from the Dre-disses on Too Gangsta 4 Radio.

And Dre seems distant from other people except Jimmy Iovine.

Life is funny isn't it.  Dre works hard and secures a lifetime of financial security for his son, and asks nothing in return.  Then his son grows up and disses him for not being a real enough gangsta!!!!!!!!  You just can't make this stuff up!

It'd be interesting to know when was it actually recorded, from the sound quality, I'd tend to guess it ain't that recent...

Now I don't know whether it is true or not but I read somewhere that he wasn't raised by Dre (his mother not being the Good Doctor's wife like his son who committed suiocide was?) & only met him when he was like 17 or 18??? But I really can't recall where this was from so it might be just some BS, I dunno.
What I DO know is he's ALWAYS handled his career BY HIMSELF & built HIS own team, which to me is more than worthy of respect, because he wouls have had it way easier to just be a doctor "mama's boy".

How do you know all that is true? I don't pretend to know about the situation but it sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions just to defend Dre.

Yeah, I heard something along those lines as well. It seems like dude pretty much came up on his own and like you said didn't meet his pops till his late teens. Again, I don't pretend to know everything about this situation, but I can understand him not respecting dude if that was their situation.

edit: I do remember several years ago he had a song called "Daddy Was a Doctor" with a Dre sample in it, so who knows when this shit is from..

I met Curtis probably 8 or 9 years ago and that's what I was told.  My uncle was working with him at the time in the Inland Empire.  My uncle said he had Dre's son in the car and that Curt didn't really know Dre as his father until later on in his life.  So it's not like he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  I'm sure things improved for him after they did connect.

I also respect that he's trying to do his own thing.  I didn't even know that he was trying to become a rapper back then.  I was a little surprised when he came out as Hood Surgeon, but I'm glad that he dropped that name and repackaged himself.

I do imagine Dre will have had the decency to take on the financial well-being of his "un-natural" son (when kings ruled kingdoms, they called them "bastard" sons), but that ain't nothing like being raised by one's father... So in that respect, Curtis owes Andre nothing. & Fact is it might have been a blessing, Curtis turned hungry rather than spoiled & bored & addicted.
From what I know since they finally met they did make up & they on good terms (Dre lost his first born so this tragedy might have helped bringing him closer to his estranged son) but like I always said, I have the outmost respect for Curtis for being his own man & artist, sure it must help his last name is Young but he didn't chose it, it's his birthright, still, you can see how different he made his career from say the son of Master P or now in the West the son & daughter of Snoop: they coached by dad & mom 100% (they have every right to, it's their own choice) but one thing no one can accuse Curtis of is riding his dad's (cock)tail! & He got MAD talent!
Again, I tried to convince some of the staff members here to highlight his work & to this day, at best, I was told he has yet to "prove" himself (& that's at best!), that I can't understand! But what do I know bout anything right? I'm just another know-nothing arrogant Euro-oversea-er, never mind I been listening to this music for over 19 years now.

^lmao@the staff telling u he hasn't "proved himself"? Isn't part of this site to promote west coast artists and help them become proven? That's what hip-hop journalism is all about. Thats too much.

As for Curtis, didn't he come out on some Dre beats as Hood Surgeon back n the day? Seems to me like he's upset that his pops ain't been helpin him get shit crackin. Either that, or he's still mad that he wasn't raised by him. Either way, he shouldnt be dissin Dre like that, cuz it comes off as a publicity stunt and makes him look ungrateful/bitter. I checked his work, and he definitely has that talent gene, tho. Hope he can make some noise, along with E3, Lil Eazy, Yung Eazy, OMG, Doughboy, Waxxie, Lil Spanky Dank, and all of em..
