How do you know all that is true? I don't pretend to know about the situation but it sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions just to defend Dre.

Yeah, I heard something along those lines as well. It seems like dude pretty much came up on his own and like you said didn't meet his pops till his late teens. Again, I don't pretend to know everything about this situation, but I can understand him not respecting dude if that was their situation.

edit: I do remember several years ago he had a song called "Daddy Was a Doctor" with a Dre sample in it, so who knows when this shit is from..

I met Curtis probably 8 or 9 years ago and that's what I was told.  My uncle was working with him at the time in the Inland Empire.  My uncle said he had Dre's son in the car and that Curt didn't really know Dre as his father until later on in his life.  So it's not like he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  I'm sure things improved for him after they did connect.

I also respect that he's trying to do his own thing.  I didn't even know that he was trying to become a rapper back then.  I was a little surprised when he came out as Hood Surgeon, but I'm glad that he dropped that name and repackaged himself.

I do imagine Dre will have had the decency to take on the financial well-being of his "un-natural" son (when kings ruled kingdoms, they called them "bastard" sons), but that ain't nothing like being raised by one's father... So in that respect, Curtis owes Andre nothing. & Fact is it might have been a blessing, Curtis turned hungry rather than spoiled & bored & addicted.
From what I know since they finally met they did make up & they on good terms (Dre lost his first born so this tragedy might have helped bringing him closer to his estranged son) but like I always said, I have the outmost respect for Curtis for being his own man & artist, sure it must help his last name is Young but he didn't chose it, it's his birthright, still, you can see how different he made his career from say the son of Master P or now in the West the son & daughter of Snoop: they coached by dad & mom 100% (they have every right to, it's their own choice) but one thing no one can accuse Curtis of is riding his dad's (cock)tail! & He got MAD talent!
Again, I tried to convince some of the staff members here to highlight his work & to this day, at best, I was told he has yet to "prove" himself (& that's at best!), that I can't understand!
