DJ Quik: Best Album Discussion
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:58:04 PM »
Ok y'all. I haven't been on here too consistently in a good year or so... **My bad if this has been discussed too much or too recent.**

I wanna hear the boards opinions of which Quik album they believe is the best he has dropped. He has some seriously hot albums &, as usual, he is still a true West Coast legend.

My favorite & best in my book is "Balance & Options". I think so because his sound really started to evolve during the "Rhythm~al~ism" sessions & he capitalized on them during the recording of "Balance & Options". Some of my favorite track off of the album are: "Change Da Game", "We Came To Party", "Pitch In On A Party", "How Come", "U Ain't Fresh" & "Do Whatcha Want".

I'm still a big fan of just about every album, but B&O stands out as my favorite with Rhythm & S+S real close after it.

I think B&O had many amazing tracks. I still get chills when I hear Mausberg's verse on "Well"

As a whole I thought Safe & Sound and Rhythmalism were both stronger than B&O though. B&O's skits/interludes were terrible to me, and I wasn't feeling some of the "filler" tracks.

I picked Safe & Sound as my favorite though. It has one of the hardest diss songs in the history of rap on it.

I finally just broke out my entire Quik collection for the first time in a while & once you start bumpin one you can't help but just play through the whole discography.

I own all his albums but since I don't really use CD's anymore I haven't really bumped his shit for awhile either, and I never got around to ripping the albums. This thread made me go download a torrent for his discography in 320. It's gonna be a damn good week getting reacquainted with Quik's catalog  8)

I think Book of David is his best album. Every track bumps. A few of the songs (So Compton, Nobody, Do Today, Flow For Sale) are among the best individual songs of Quik's career.

Every Quik album is a mixture of amazing tracks and a mediocre tracks...but on Book of David the amazing tracks are the most amazing.

Safe & Sound for me, although I do find myself listening to The Book Of David more often than his others.
